Quals ?

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 5:30 am

Hi I'm a Oblivion modder for my own use and new here on the forum ,but I have a question with Skyrim coming out.
Dose anyone know if their will be a Quals texture pack for Skyrim.
Or dose anyone have plains for doing a high Res texture pack for Skyrim.
I've seen the Skyrim videos and it dose look like the game can use some extra help in higher texture details.
Please don't say this is the wrong forum their is no Skirim Mod forum yet.
Thanks

This is still the wrong forum. Skyrim topics should be in the Skyrim board. General discussion at this point means "discuss what you want."

To answer your question: no one can be sure yet. Certainly there will be an attempt, but all talk of Skyrim mods are pure speculation at this point.

It got moved here because it's about Skyrim mods, and this is the only place for all things Skyrim-related. Just like Thomas Kaira already explained once:

Its related more to general Skyrim than it is to Oblivion Mods...

On topic, wait a few years before you ask for higher resolution textures...

Do you mean "http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=2363" or are you talking about something else?

good lord I have never seen one word misspelled so many different ways by so many different people.

The correct name of this mod is "Qarl's Texture Pack III" or QTP3

On topic: it will probably take at least several months before we see a complete set of 2048x2048 textures created by a modder, if past Bethesda games are any indication.

I'm hoping that the dev team will take a cue from Bioware and release an official Skyrim high res texture pack (hopefully 2048x2048) for PC owners to download for free.

People hate default textures no matter what.

Rest assured, high-rez texture packs will be one of the first mods available.

But hopefully not before rideable dragons.

Qarl's Texture Pack, he did 3 of them ,the first one Qarl's texture pack the 2nd Qarl's 2 texture pack and the 3rd Quarl's 3 texture pack.
Someone came out with a reduced Qarl's texture pack for slower computers and if you had the UOP with Qarl's textures you needed a patch to replace the textures the UOP removed.
Oh UOP -Unoffical Oblivion Patch

Your right except its not a mod its a texture pack about 2 gig QTP 3 the old way of saying it , it is a old pack and very taxing on the computer and video card you need a good one even today to use it unless you use the reduced Qarl's that someone I forget his name made ,believe its on the TOTO site along with Qarl's http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/obliviontextureoverhaul.html

I think his texture pack was a work of art, and I was happy with every single texture he did. The only thing that comes close is nmc's texture pack for fallout 3. Which also had fantastic art for the setting.

The pc version will have slightly higher resolution textures, which will look slightly better again because of anisotropic filtering. That said, they will still for the most part be the same textures the 360 version uses. Todd said that oblivion had higher quality textures than the console versions, and this is true, but it was minimal. The reason it looked better on pc was the texture mods, resolution, aa, and then OBGE later down the track.

So yes, I sincerely hope someone as talented as the creators above manages to get a texture pack for skyrim. Because they are some supremely rough textures right there.

Also, skyrim will apparently use direct x 11, this means that with a lot of work, someone EXTRA talented might be able to get some tessellation going on.

Which would be the best thing ever.

Thats cool I never used texture packs on Fallout 3 or New Vegas because of its gray dusty look but it sounds good.

On Oblivion I use custom Nvidia settings for the game to max it to the highest settings you can go to. With custom Nvidia setting on a game you can go be on the limits and make a game the super beautiful .
Using Custom Nvidia settings their are about 15 different ways to set your computer to max the game farther then its limits like using both Antialiasing and HDR lighting together, Oblivion will not allow you to use both HDR and antialiasing together.
but on Nvidia custom setting you can force the Antialiasing and pick HDR lighting in the game to have both working for a super looking game.
I have Oblivion on both X-box 360 on HDTV and on my PC and the difference is like night and day with the PC way better, sharp and deep colors.

Please use the edit button, double and triple posts are generally considered to be a no-no. But yeah, inevitably they will appear. You'll probably have to wait till after the first fifty nvde skins are done though before you get to a massive texture pack.

I'm sure LOD mods or textures will precede the first large texture works first ,the need for a beautiful landscape will be first I'm sure so look for LOD's Level of Detail's to come first very early in the game.
Then all the good stuf high res books and water, weather packs , ren's hair .OOOO ,fran's and all the other stuf the game forgot and modders add for ours and their enjoyment.

I thought I saw a mudcrab ,I hope not!
