Some useful sounds you might not notice in your Headphones

Hi, I been playing a lot of assault mode lately... and realized sounds were the key to winning and survival..

Just to share some tips that some of you might already know about listening to sounds that can help pinpoint your enemy's location

1) Footsteps -- > im sure all of you guys know about this... every FPS gamer should
2) Power jump/jump/ledgegrab sounds --> I think crysis 2 players should be familiar at recognizing these sounds as well

3) Stealth/Armor mode transition --> yes, you can hear if your enemy transitions into cloak/armor mode nearby... it sounds like a soft high pitched glimmering sound.... make no mistake... if you hear it nearby and ur radar shows no friendlies nearby....expect a cloaked/armored enemy in the vicinity

4) Proxy Alarm verbal reports --> if an enemy uses Proxy Alarm, you can actually hear them verbally reporting if an enemy is nearby them. Its not a loud shout but they will say things like 'someone's close by', or 'they're definitely around here somewhere'. I found this useful as a defender in assault, cos I heard this verbal report and instantly i know that an enemy using Proxy Alarm is nearby.
Alternatively, if ur gonna surprise ur enemy and go stealth mode... do not load this module. You might not hear your ownself shouting the reports, but the enemies definitely can.

5) Radar Jammer verbal reports --> enemies affected by your jammer will also have a verbal report that you can hear... like 'they're jamming my radar' or something

6) other verbal reports --> there's some other verbal reports like 'They definitely know i'm here!' although im not sure when these are triggered...maybe being tagged with Visor or Visor Enhance? or Maximum Radar?

7) Rustling sounds from a camper --> If you're camping, and u move around ur mouse, you're making rustling sounds that can be heard by the enemy. Just keep your mouse perfectly still, if you really want to hide. If you're hunting a camper, keep your ears open.

8) Weapon sounds --> i think most of you know these already... you can hear reload sounds, and weapon fire... etc

9) Other noises --> things like enemy accidentaly kicking a crate, or brushing past a tree.... or random noises that wasn't there before.... don't dismiss it instantly as ambience.... you might be wrong...

hahaa... i enjoy sharing tips with the others... so that there's more of a challenge when playing online if everyone starts listening out more...

and also so that people can finally understand why some pro players can find them in their 'supposedly secret' camping spots, and not resort to calling them hackers/cheaters

if you have other tips, you can share them here too.. hehe

i'll hold on to some of my other secrets first

This thread explains many reasons (and ones I didn't realise) why I prefer [Covert Ops] over [Stealth Enhance] as my primary Stealth module. Even with [Stealth Enhance II] hiding your shadow, observant players can still see the colourful light glare and distortion of your cloak, even in the darkness.

But with [Covert Ops], oh ho, no chance mate.

I didn't realise until I started using it is that the sound dampening is on ALL the time, normal running footsteps are quietened enough to get into optimal damage range without cloaking, I believe it also quietens ledge-grabbing too. What I love is that it silences power-jump regardless of whether you're in stealth or not, making reaching shortcut ledges viable for sneaking up on someone. When you /do/ go into stealth mode all your movement actions are silenced.

People can see through [Stealth Enhance II] but you can fool them completely with [Covert Ops I]. For Stealth Enhance to be as good as what Covert Ops can do, it would have to remove the colouration glare effect when in direct sunlight AND reduce the opacity of the already low visiblity stealth matrix graphics to provide sufficient visual cloaking to make 'spot by eye' impractical.

I havent tested out whether covert ops softens the stealth/armor mode transition sound.... all i know is in assault... i have to crouch really still and concentrate hard to notice someone with covert ops coming straight at me...

sometimes i notice when it's really too close, and they'll get at least one melee at my face before they die.

Covert ops is great, but i use stealth enhance because of the energy saving perks at level 3.

Here's another tip i realized when playing assault: if you use Stealth Enhance 3, without mobility enhance... you can run further cloaked before draining your energy...
compared to using Mobility Enhance 3 with covert ops.... you'll lose ur energy really fast when running around cloaked due to the new nerfing of Mobility Enhance.

so its more to the energy saving perks

Actually i started getting some solid kills only when i started to listen to enemy sounds.People don't take maximum radar seriously but i have killed lots of campers with max radar. So another tip.Use max radar efficiently.

I attentively listen to 1,2,7,8,9. Others paragraphs don't gather my attention so much.
Also need to mention that players with radar jammer. Without sound and etc. wound tell you that they near. ON nanovision and armor for incoming visitor)

you should take note of number 3... it is a very soft sound... but very very very useful. Especially when things get too quiet.

as for the rest of your sentence UNIT_TEST_01 i'm trying hard to understand what you're trying to say
