NPC's Sparring with Each Other - Animations not Right

Post » Fri Jun 10, 2011 8:25 pm

Ok, I've got a couple of NPC's sparring with each other. Everything is working fine except they act more like they're practicing on a sparring dummy than sparring with another NPC. Basically I'm not getting the nice one-turn-at-a-time that you see when other NPC's spar with each other in the game. For one thing, they don't block each others blows. They just keep hitting each other continually. I have looked at the packages and settings of the other NPC's that do this and I can't figure out what I've missed. Does anybody know the secret setting to get the proper behaviour out of this?

Oooo, coincidence! I'm writing a Sparring tutorial. Almost done, should be posted on TESA tomorrow. You should be able to see what you missed. :)

I'm going to guess that Combat Style will have a lot to do with this. You get to specify, among other things, the chance an NPC will block. Yours apparently have 0%, so they whack away continuously.

You need to set the Target Data on the X Marker Headings to be the other person. If you need an example, look at one of the pre-made ones, like the Cloud Ruler sparring and such.

Bingo! That's what I had forgotten. I had marked it down in my notes too...

Thanks SkyShadowing.
