The Unofficial Official Skyrim Mod Thread

snip

You and X_death are pretty lucky, and yes I believe you both and yes I was referring to Vanilla Morrowind, not modded.....interesting
Don't take my last statement as a method to undercut the thread, I whole heartedly agree on the concept, but in my opinion its not entirely comforting going along the lines of, sure beth can ignore PC users, they have mods who gives a damn, if they have an issue they can fix it :spotted owl: .

Now personally...I don't know how Beth is ignoring PC users since Skyrim is coming out immediately on....PC along with the other consoles, its not like the Game mechanics are different from system to system, and a Graphical difference is a small price to pay that can be rectified by those who -actually- care.

case and point, Mods are awesome ,Mods are great but its Beth's sole duty to compensate, no im not complaining, no they aren't bad but mods aren't a reason we can't get mad......

holy crap......ok I have to say it, gooooooooooooo TEAM! Skyrim!

This is the way that I look at it, if I don't like something, mod it.

Simple.

If it isn't in already, first-person body model: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtP4rkJBky4

Mounted combat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vckqoncSag

And lastly, a COMPLETE UI overhaul with elements described in my thread, here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1199857-dear-todd-please-give-me-a-paper-map/

Not to single you out or anything, but I've heard lots of people claim this but every time I've asked for specifics, nobody can ever come up with even one game breaking bug, as in something that once occurs, utterly prevents you from continuing. I personally can't think of anything, and I can tell you for certain I played vanilla with NO UOP with my first character and got all the way through the MQ and all the guild quests without anything that even broke one of the quests, let alone the game.

Two links you should see: http://oblivion.wikia.com/wiki/Bugs Not all game-breakers but some are. And then there's the golden oldie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygbp-fmyZzU - ABOMB is a bug that crops up several hundred hours into the game and basically the games stops working completely. This guy got really unlucky as he was on the final phases of the main quest when it happened!

Thank you.

Morale of the forum seems to be down since so many PC players think Bethesda has forgotten about them. Hopefully this thread will remind them about how much Bethesda care about their customers enough to give us awesome modding tools.

nah.. the morale on this forum is down because people are focusing on the minor petty "disappointments" from the footage they saw and blowing it out of proportion by creating threads to whine about it, therefore, causing people to feel like they have to speak their mind. This in turn causes flaming and things get personal. I have been trying to avoid these dang forums lately because of this. I hope in time people will just accept the game for what it is and start focusing on what they enjoy about it so far (like this thread). Thanks for the topic.

I think mods cover for porting, and I seriously don't understand why everybody complains about ports.
Mods are everything.

Would you guys prefer to see amazing DX11 features or still-good DX9 and mods? It takes time to make the mod tools, you know.

Thanks for this topic, i was one of those afraid skyrim will be a bad port , but now seeing how there are mods for everything including high res textures for Oblivion i am not so worried anymore, but the one thing i am is the physics system, no mod can cover that, the Giant physics, the bandit ragdoll physics looked terrible reminded me of the old hitman games where people were falling dead like ledges didn't fell impressive at all.

On the physics, I wouldn't mind something similar to rockstars system. Maybe not so much stumbling, but at least reach their arms to the floor or something as they fall from an arrow or something.

Rockstar system uses by my opinion the best physics engine there is today its called Euphoria engine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87qdmuOesRs - Euphoria vs Ragdoll physics

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o6YVLmOs74 - it was also used in SW:The force unleashed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2G7JRAH9LU&feature=related - The start talks about Ephoria

I cannot understand why only rockstar uses this engine i rly can't.

Rockstar's physics system is amazing. It's not necessarily the physics system, itself, that makes it awesome, but how the AI is programed to interact with it, and be aware that it's there.

Added some 1st person stuff.

If they botch voice acting (like some artical said they have, but I think they were exadurating) then there is little we can really do, and if they botch hardcoding things that people REALLY don't like, THATS when we worry. So far I'm not that bothered... would like to see Skryim as close to perfect as possible, but once you've got past the basics, every thing you want is what someone ELSE doesn't want. Spell creation... hardcoe Mode... etc etc. So long as they give the possibility to PC gamers to have Spell creation through mods, I dont mind if they get rid of it. But if they have hardcoded things so that spell creation on the fly is impossible, I will be a little annoyed.

If you play the vanilla game at 1080p or higher resolution, the vanilla textures are not acceptable quality.

Also the faces of all the NPCs are quite ugly and the combat system is not well-balanced, encouraging a very counterintuitive type of leveling.

I have also played the vanilla game for hundreds of hours and enjoyed it, but after installing Qarl's Texture Pack 3, OBGEv2, Tamriel NPCs Revamped, ENBSeries shaders, FCOM/OOO/MMM/Frans/Warcry and Duke Patricks, personally, I could never go back to playing the vanilla version of Oblivion.

I'm certainly hoping that the vanilla release of Skyrim will have 2048x2048 textures available for PC and that the combat will be better balanced (and damn hard on the highest difficulty setting). Already we have seen that NPC faces look exponentially better than they did in Oblivion.

Open (and Open Better) Cities.

In the "German interview", Todd says that just simply walking into the city is basically the same experience as clicking on a door, getting a loading screen, and being loaded into the separate celled city. That's obviously just PR talk, because Open Cities are so much more immersible, and the way the game plays is just that much smoother.

My fav mod is FWE because its basically a giant options menu, you can tweak your game to your preferences, I really hope something like this comes out for SR. I want it more than anything else by far.

I'll add an overhaul section of overhauls that have done it right!

I was thinking about that but we have very little information about guilds, and it mostly changed how you progressed through the Fighters and Mages guilds. Great mod though! Maybe, I'll add it

Added a cities section.
