Did Skyrim win any E3 awards?

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 5:37 pm

I just saw the IGN page on it, and somehow they got 2nd place for best RPG.

Are there places other than IGN that give E3 awards? Did Skyrim win any E3 awards?

Obviously you cannot compare the two, different genres but I think Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the only other RPG I would have even 'considered' over Skyrim for best at E3, but even though that game looks awesome in it's own way Skyrim still looks better. I don't neccasarily consider shooters with RPG elements ala Bioshock or Mass Effect on the same level, don't like to compare them to traditional or fantasy RPG's.

I'm sure Skyrim won multiple awards or at least was nominated for game of show, best RPG, etc.

Between The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim and Battlefield 3 they basically were the games of show. Obviously you cannot compare the two, different genres but I think Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the only other RPG I would have even 'considered' over Skyrim for best at E3, but even though that game looks awesome in it's own way Skyrim still looks better.

I have to agree, Reckoning stole the show for me and it's my pick for game of the show, pretty much equal to Skyrim.

BF3's popularity will do down when console users realize DICE cheated their asses by only showing PC footage.

I really have to wonder if the people trying to claim Mass Effect isn't an RPG have even played it. Also, having a fantasy setting has zilch to do with being an RPG.

I'm eager to see what G4 chooses though. I think Skyrim will win. I watched hours of G4 footage and some of them GUSHED over Skyrim randomly over and over again over the course of those hours...

Mass Effect is definitely an RPG, as is Skyrim, and Final Fantasy. Despite being RPGs, these series have vastly different styles of gameplay that can't really be compared to one another. That said, Skyrim damn well better get the best RPG, because IMHO a Mass Effect or Final Fantasy title would be the only things that could compete (not in my opinion of course, I mean for sheer popularity competition among gamers as a whole).
