[Relz] Maps of Morrowind (MoM)

Post » Sun Jun 12, 2011 5:03 pm

Hi all,

it took a couple of years, but here it is: my first mod! :celebration:
uh - err - its not a mod, actually, I mean, not as such.
And it's not yet approved by PES and GHF was down at the time of writing, so you can't even download it yet.
But hey, its uploaded. Meet MoM.

This is a kit of a little program which extracts all teleporting door and NPC locations out of a Morrowind game (including all loaded plugins!) and dumps them to a *.htm-file, and a webpage with some JavaScript which makes these *htm-files an index to maps created by the "createmaps" function of the game itself. In brief.
Let's quote the readme:

Maps of Morrowind (MoM) - ReadMe

So Adibael Hainnabibi has invited you 'round for dinner and you have no idea on how to get there?
You want to organize a picnic in Aharasaplit Camp and would like to provide your guests with directions?

Go and ask MoM. MoM is a toolkit for Morrowind which makes use of the "createmaps" function of the game to
create functional maps, complete with location and NPC index. To this end, it consists of a tool that will copy all the game maps into a directory and extract all the location data and NPC positions from your current Morrowind setup (=all your plugins will be indexed, too).

The other side of the coin is a set of simple web-pages with a little javascript on top to make those maps navigatable (is this actually a word? - err. Let's settle for "navigable").

To install, simply unpack the 2 folders in this archive somewhere. You can rename them you suit your needs.
The MoM folder contains the webpages, while PI2Htm contains the actual program. The MoM folder and the PI2Htm folder do not have to be kept together.

After you "installed" it, you're ready to go: open the file "index.htm" in your MoM-folder to read on, how.
The program PI2Htm has its own helpfile (accessible via the "?" button), so I reckon I don't have to tell you what you can do and how in this readme.
These webpages aren't optimized for any browser but should work with any more or less recent one. But since the pages are not "optimized' for one browser, this means they hardly ever run completely as intended. Here's a few examples (browser rant warning):...

...from then on, it's probably best to close this file and read MoM\index.htm for instructions...
Have fun with MoM!

Wow! I can think of some cases where this would be amazingly useful! (Also, the correct word is navigable.)
