Another pauldron/all armor thread

They're either rushing to correct the horrible mistake they've made, or enjoying watching us squirm.

But yes, this is getting silly now. I wish they'd just tell us, one way or the other.

I believe they already told us on the E3 demo , i just hope i am wrong :(

I loved the separate boots, gauntlets and pauldrons in Morrowind. Would be great if greaves were separate too. And it doesnt matter if there are many threads about the subject. More change that the devs notice it.

Same, I will honestly say if they confirm more slots than Oblivion I am officially sold on the game. This is the one aspect that still bugs me.

It'll probably be one piece for armor. Don't ask me how I know, I just do.

One piece! nuuuuu! :starwars:

On the video we saw:
Helmet
Boots
Gauntlets
Armor <---- :nope:

I hope they are making greaves separate, at least! i love to find armor pieces and mix and match , this is a big part for TES , well for me at least :(

NOBODY PANIC, I THINK I KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON HERE.

Sorry for the caps, but all too often I've seen long posts get ignored, and I think this is one people might like to read.

We know we have Elven Boots, an Elven Helmet, Elven Gauntlets, as well as this 'Elven Armor,' which we can see has a little arrow next to it pointing upwards. I think I can explain how this means that there are at least as many slots as in Oblivion, and possibly more. Yes, I'm fairly certain that greaves are in.

So, Bethesda is trying to make the interface more user friendly, and less 'spreadsheet like.' What I believe they have done is to group all the individual pieces of armour into an 'Elven Armor' drop down menu, so that it's easier to find in your inventory and makes the list shorter. So, while scrolling through your inventory, you will just see Elven armor. This explains the arrow - clicking that upward arrow would reduce the list back to just being elven armor, with a downwards arrow. Clicking the downwards arrow would expand the list.

This begs the question, why would they need to do that unless there were lots of armor pieces? Greaves only don't appear in the inventory because the character doesn't have any. I'm sure they're in, and we could even see more slots. People calling for a customisation level closer to that of Morriwnd have been fairly vocal on these forums, and I can't imagine Bethesda would ignore them. All hope is not lost.

the weight doesn't add up though, all those together doesn't add up to 9(they'd equal 6), and the value doesn't add up to 225( they'd be 190) either,

but the greaves+cuirass in Oblivion added up to 20.8, so that weight doesn't make sense either........im kinda puzzled on what it actually is...

The only reason I would want separate pieces of armor is for enchanting purposes. If the available body slots are the same as Fallout 3 then it doesn't matter since there are plenty of places to assign gear.

You know that someone is going to open nifscope and alter the vanilla stuff as soon as they get the game. If there aren't any separate pieces at launch there will be in no time.

From what I've seen of the armor in game I don't really care to mix and match it. Also from what I've seen there is probably several different versions of each base type. Stuff with, and without, pauldrons, gauntlets, etc.

You do know that you can split one model into 2, but you can't just add more armor slots?

I want more armor slots, Morrowind's system just felt great. What would go great with it is having enough armor to mix and match, just imagine doing that with Oblivion's variety, not quite as appealing...

If they say enchanting would be to powerful THEY ARE LYING COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY LYING. Simply because they could nerf chanting and blam problem solved.

If they have set armors like fallout im not going to even bother buying the game until it's in a steam sale. I cant stand the "wider audience," or "this was to hard for 'new' players" nonsense. Gotta respect CD projekt at least they dont compromise artistic vision for the sake of selling a game to the "waah this game is to hard" audience.

Also how is morrowind hard i've never figured that out.

im interested. Why don't you want separete pauldrons then?

I can understand sort of.

While no part of me will advocate removing options to fine-tune the appearance of your character, the sheer amount of equipment slots in Morrowind was a bit overwhelming, but in a bad way.

I don't know how many people mix gauntlets (Wraithguard the exception), but I do know people who liked One arm "Sleeveless".

I can't offer any theoretical solution without going a little too-fable. It's one of the reasons "Pauldrons" has never really resonated with me the same way it has with a lot of the community.

I'm fine with 5 armor/clothing slots(Head,Body,Legs,Feet,Hands) and 5 accessory slots.(RingL RingR, Amulet, Waist, Robe)

I bet beth somehow started this rumor to take focus off of the fact that they've still removed pauldrons :P. This way they can come out and say "hey guys! good news! we'll have just as many slots as in oblivion! :D" As if it's a good thing.
