So will there be a game every 2 years now?

Post » Wed Jun 15, 2011 4:58 am

Just wondering if they are going to do this? So both developers would have 4 years each to make a game while still keeping interest in the franchise fresh. Does anyone know the future of obsidian with Bethesda? Maybe they will be put onto other new projects? Though I do think they should stick to fallout :P

I would like it if they continued to contract Obsidian to fix the latest installment of ES With Guns.

I think you're trying to derail a topic I have created. Also No I don't. I think one is about fantasy and swords etc and the other about a post apocalyptic world. Yes they will use the same engine which I am happy about because I feel like you can really experience a world that way.

I think you're trying to derail a topic I have created.

You asked "Just wondering if they are going to do this?" and "Does anyone know the future of obsidian with Bethesda?"
And to both questions: No one knows.
And right there the thread is finished.

Now, want it to derail a little bit so we have something more meaty to discuss or should it just end now?
Cause no one knows whether or not Bethesda will keep contracting them to make games.

The thread could derail into a "Do you want a game to be made every 2 years?"
If it derails into that we can say yes/no and explain why we think so. (Which I did.)

But if it doesn't derail into this then it's finished right now.
Cause there is no official confirmation if Obsidian will be contracted in the future.
Only speculation and wishful thinking. (Which (imo) doesn't seem like it was the intention of your OP.)

technically he did answer your question if he did perhaps phrase it in a way to seem downputting to tes and tes+guns series lol, but seriously i would dig it if bethesda took 6 years made elder scrolls, and give obsidian the engine and 6 years to make fallout we would have a game maybe every 3 years and they would be seperate but still in contact so we could have really major differences in gameplay, and writing style which fit seperate series and both would be lovingly developed and polished.

Give it a rest all of you.

I think a 2 year east/west development pattern would work well.

That's what I think is (or maybe should) happen. Have Beth continue to explore the East Coast, and let Obsidian handle the West Coast.

Hey, I am just joking B)

I think it would be fun if people would start saying the other way around. Especially since I read a post by someone sometime ago, think it was Rook, that the new engine was developed with Fallout in mind, which made me directly think, jokingly, "Fallout with magic".

Wouldn't it get old pretty soon, though? Given that that would likely work the same way as it did with FO3 and NV - almost the same games technically and mechanically.

I'd support this if Obsidian would be given a possibility to do a proper spinoff (I never thought I'd use a term like that... :P) with their own engine, or at least something different than "creationbryo" - at least one game out of the current pattern. Otherwise, I think it'd likely quickly get pretty stale and repetitive.
