Oblivion and Linux

So I decided to install Oblivion under Ubuntu 10.04, using Wine v1.2.2. To my surprise, the install went off without a hitch, I had expected to run into some sort of issue, but I didn't. So anyway, the intro plays fine, and then I go to start a new game, and it locks up. I tried grabbing a save game from a backup on my desktop, it shows up on the load menu, but it locked up when I tried to load it, it locked up. As far as I can tell, there is no stack trace on the error message, so I have no Idea what is wrong.

I could play it quite well in windows when it was installed on here, but the hard drive crashed, and for some reason, the laptop won't let me re-install windows on here, so at the moment, linux is my only hope for on-the-go gaming.

Any suggestions?

*UPDATE* Just installed Fallout 3 under Linux and it works fine, so, huh, interesting.
