How should we be able to persuade someone in Skyrim?

To my knowlege, if they like you, yes they'll try to return the item to you, or if they don't like you (an advlt in this case) may try to kill you with the sword.

I'm just praying that they don't bring the persuasion wheel back. The typical conversation in Oblivion wen't something like:
"Wow you're such a cool person, but I'm still cooler than you. If you don't laugh I'll [censored] kill you... Look at the muscles on you."

Sounds like you are diving into heavy stuff, give an example so people wont jump to conclusions.

I'm trying to avoid jumping to conclusions. I'm just a bit puzzled by how the game will track the unique aspects of your relationships with various NPCs without something like Disposition; or how you will be able to manipulate the unique aspects of your relationships with various NPCs, without persuasion options in dialogue? There are general mechanisms, for sure - I mentioned those.

I'm not offering this as a sceptical challenge. I just don't know how Speechcraft is going to work, or how NPCs can be made to more or less like/dislike you.

Hard to know now but a pretty sure bet is something like in fallout and oblivion and / or a very halo effictish thing, there is a civil war, you save people, you get "famous" for it and they like you. if i worked at bethesda it would be the richest mfking

anyway i do not think that they will be particularly inventive on that, if im wrong i win.

i think you covered the possibilities good otherwise as to what we have seen before.

I hope for every quest we'll be able to persuade people and finish them in a different way.

Since actions are possible while in dialogue, why not intimidate by taking up your weapon? Or be nice, sheath your weapon.

Trust me nothing like that's coming back. A mini game wouldn't work with talking with people in real time.

I do not want it back, but why wouldn't it?
