Kind of armor in TES5 Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 16, 2011 5:40 pm

Well what was awesome was that, as others have said, that there was armor kinds for each culture present. The ashlanders and natives would use chitin Netch. The Imperials would use imperial armor. Other regular folk would use stuff like steel and iron and whatever else they could buy in shops. The great houses would use bonemold. It was so awesome that you could instantly see who lived there as soon as you saw the local guards.

I second this.

We've seen an incredible amount of armor in the screenshots, and every indication so far is that there's going to be a huge amount of variety. What I'm personally thinking now, is that there's the base materials, and multiple types of construction techniques for a given armor (and weapons).

Here's just a taste.

http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/58/58631.png (Side Note: Perhaps "Steel" armor on the guy sitting in the back)

http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/53/53703.png Also, whatever the Guard is wearing.

So that's 10 sets right there. A lot of those sets don't even cover the amount of Ores we know are in the game (13) and even more of those don't actually use "Metal" or something that would be considered an "Ore" unless that was just a broad generalization from everything from Iron Ore to Dragon Scales.

Looking back on Oblivion's Armor, I don't remember them being that ugly... Though I guess the Madness Weapons/Armor withstood the test of time.

There should be too much variety.

hope they add WAY more armor and weapon skins then they have in Oblivion, BUT with oblivion i happen to like the Daedric armor and didnt want to replace it, i often just wore regular pants without a shirt and just went on adventures that way. felt badass that way....

Yeah, I think the only way to make equipment redundant is by copying the same item with different stats. (Oblivion)

I want vast amounts! I'm sick of getting a little option of armor choice and then going on the mod forums to find some stupid Hentai Japanese armor which in no way belongs there especially not this time around in Skyrim!

I hope they have multiple daedric armors, as with all other armor, which it looks like will happen.

I just happen to love how the daedric armor looks in Morrowind, more than in Oblivion anyway. Thankfully there is a mod that puts this armor in Oblivion so my problems are solved.

i want armor/clothing selection like daggerfall and morrowind where you have several slots to use, and can layer clothing and armor. that way i can put plate armor on my left arm and keep my right arm unhindered for sword swings! role playing you see. although if there were actual penalties to wearing armor (REASONABLE penalties) i wouldn't mind that either.

so hopefully they bring back the older equipment system.

I'd like to see different armours of the same 'value'. I don't like the fact that at the end of the game, you're basically stuck with Daedric armour (for example) because it's the best there is, and you just have to live with that. It's so boring, they should at least allow some kind of customisation such as changing colour using dyes, or other things, to make the character more unique. As you progress, the options you have to cusomize your character just seem to get less and less, if you also wish to be practical and wear the best armour you can.

Add more top-end armour sets so that players actually have some kind of choice about what they wear at high levels. Either that or give the player more customisation tools for armour sets to mix things up a bit.

Back in Oblivion I mainly played stealth and magic characters so I didn't have much use for armour. I wouldn't be against more armour variety in Skyrim of course. I will probably end up playing barbarian and warrior types eventually. ;)

I definitely liked Morrowind's armor more than Oblivion's.

Agreed. I'm really hoping to see some new designs in a lot of the materials.

Thank you very much, you gave actually pictures with additional information, I am actually content with this. Not to mention what we already know will be in the game, without even showing the higher tiers we were able to see the variety of armor in this game, I actually fine with this.

I REALLY hope that isn't a dunmer in that crude leather armor. Dunmer are my favorite race and that guy looks puny!

I guess not everyone can be as awesome as the saver of countries that speaks dragon though.

After looking at the different kinds of Morrowind armor, maybe it isn't just that there is more types of armors in Morrowind, although there is, it may be also that the armors are just more alien to us, while the armors in Oblivion are more familiar.

Still I would love to see more armor then in both.

Freaking this. It actually felt like a civilization.
