Install problem "Not enough free disk space" PLEASE

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 4:49 am

As soon as I being the installation and select the destination folder, it tells me I have insufficient disk space and need to free up ~ 1.7 gig. Funny, since I have 15 gig free, but whatever. So I deleted a few movies an such. I ran it again, and it tells me the same thing, with the exact same number [I copied it down to check, and after having deleted over 2GB of files and removed them from the recycling bin, the installation says I still need to free up the exact same amount as it did originally- not a single byte less].

Obviously the problem isn't lack of disk space, but whatever it it I can't figure it out. I have seen a few other posts on various sites about people encountering this problem, but now a single solutions offered. .And if this is simply some sort of incompatibly error[even though my system meets the recommended specs] is there any ways I can get my money back for the game? I'm just so frustrated at this point... NEVER have I seen an error like this that is fairly common without ANYONE having a clue howto fix it, or even what causes it. Way to go, Bethesda- let the customers know you'd spit on them if only it didn't take so much tongue-energy.

When was the last time you defragged your drive? It's probably way too fragmented for files the size that the installer wants to keep in one piece.
