New Interview Released From E3 2011

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:15 pm

"Is the game meant to be played more with magic?"

What kind of stupid question is that? How bout just asking if the animations are final or if they're subject change / improve?

It wasn't stupid at all, everyone got what she meant to say. She didn't make that question out of purpose.

HYPE is what as i stated before attracts newcomers. To be ignorant is to lack knowledge or information, and she is "dumping" on the game with a lack of information on the game due to only watching 30 minutes of gameplay. As you said, you shouldn't "dump" on games when you haven't played them.

What was the purpose of the 30min video? What is the purpose of E3? If you can't judge anything over an official demonstration of the game then something is seriously wrong.

I agree that it wasn't a stupid question... just that anyone who did 5 minutes of research into the ES franchise would have learned that there is no 1 viable way to play the game, hehe :P

edit: concerning interviews needing to blow kisses up Beth's butt, naw, without critics, they couldn't inprove or look into what the person was getting at.

Also he said monk, so h2h fighting confirmed?

yes if I recall correctly from the previous thread, that was the takeaway

also the girl is hot.

Thanks to the fact that she mistakenly thought the term "hand to hand" means "melee," we ended up getting an inadvertent confirmation of H2H from Ashley.

When she said she thought the "hand to hand" looked clunky compared to the spell animations, I'm pretty sure she was referring to the 1st person melee animations in the demo.

I don't think there was any hand to hand combat in the demo because surely someone out of the dozens of journalist who reviewed it would have mentioned this.

Who knows what the purpose of the 30 min video was, it was private. The purpose of E3 was to showcase their games to the PUBLIC. We can only judge from the 8 min gameplay sample, and i don't think theres anything wrong with us not being able to judge a 30 minute video we've never seen. As for the interviewer, i dont think there's anything right to interview a producer and judge something you've never played. Publicly, that is :sleep2:

He mentioned monks being a viable option, I think that refers to hand to hand combat.

Also I didn't think the question asked was too offensive

Exactly, the girl managed inadvertently to get Ashley Cheng to confirm H2H combat. This is a good thing.

She kept saying H2H is clunky, but she was referring to the melee combat. If she had known what H2H really meant, she would have asked about the clunkiness of melee instead, and today we probably would not still not know if H2H was in the game, so it is good that she got those words confused.

And what could possibly be offensive about a smoking hot reporter asking one of the Skyrim devs a couple of questions? Who in the hell would be offended?

1. The interviewer was probably chosen for looks, rather than for a latent interest in actually playing the game.
2. Irrespective of that, she probably has dozens of studios to interview about dozens of different games, and therefore wouldn't research every single one individually.
3. Bethesda have been emphasizing the magic system heavily.
4. It looks like the most unique feature of the game.
5. To people unaware of the franchise, the question confirmed the chief selling point of the franchise, without them having to do any research about it.
