Druids and Healers

Post » Sat Jun 18, 2011 2:03 pm

I view TES druids not as special spell-casters with their own unique school of magic or shapeshifting...but rather as spellcasters who have chosen to forgo their life of luxury to live in harmony or as guardians of the woodlands.

If there was a Druid Class, I'd see it as...

Class Specialization - Magic

Important Attributes - Willpower, Intelligence

Major Skills
-Blunt
-Light Armor
-Restoration
-Destruction
-Athletics
-Stealth
-Mysticism

And as for healers, perhaps the player could be one that goes around being paid to heal wounded soldiers, wounded pilgrims, etc.

Well, my idea wasn't a class, it was a new school.
And for the healers, that's pretty much what I suggested.

I tried to make a druidy character, but I just felt like a different mage, not an actual druid.

A druid would know Conjuration (If animal summons are allowed... I liked that aspect of the LAME Oblivion mod).

They'd also need to be able to use all three Destructive elements about equally... Fire, Frost, and Lightning are all part of nature. (Druids got the absolute best Fire spells in D&D).

Druidism doesn't need a whole new school (Though I'd love for alteration to include physical transformations), it's an entire character class, relying on a number of schools to function.

Not a bad idea on the surface at all..as i tend to like a "support" class. But i dont think it will happen in skyrim.

The Best bet would be to build yourself as a Bosmer --*shudder*--

And perhaps a class "mashup" of a Monk And Mage

Yeah yea i know there are no more classes but you get the point.

Funny, I was actually planning on making a thread about healers when I got home today. Someone beat me to it. That's pretty much what I had in mind, to go around, perhaps collecting ingredients for potions and healing anyone in need you find along the way. I also had thought it could involve some kind of minigame, like perhaps in the case of someone very ill, you could enter their body or their dreams and fight the toxins or whatever it is that is ailing them, kind of like the troll painting quest in Oblivion. This also opens up a lot of possibilities considering factions and politics. What if you came across a badly wounded noble's son, or a high ranking member of a guild out in the wilderness and brought them back to health so they could make it home? Those events could work either scripted or unscripted, and I think it would make this playstyle fun, interesting and rewarding.

That's not even including the possibilities of healing companions while they do battle, or trying to keep a group of guards alive while they fight off a dragon. Being the dragonborn, I would think you could absorb a dragon's soul whether you actually killed it or not.

Well, the only real problem I have is the idea of shapshifting. The act of turning into another creature is highly taboo in the lore, especially with the nords.

Good ideas, and I truly do apologize for stealing your thread. Forgive me mate!

I nearly smashed my screen when I saw how you directly linked ''Druid'' to ''World of Warcraft'' and not the countless other games that involve this, or the actual real life druids.

Ah. Ignore that part then, I'm not a loremaster.

I skimmed it.

Read through it then. For real this time.
