romantic interludes

Depends on if they make your romantic interest a freakin cat, lizard or orc.

i hope they race match or something...

( i suppose my comment means romance as part of story, and not a "invest 572 gold in bribes and have intercourse" kinda thing)

i think bethesda can pull off a simple romance feature, as long as the romance isnt too dramatic and serious like dragon ages

Bethesda can't even pull off trivial interpersonal interaction like background chatting.

Also, Bioware is awful. Awful, boring story, stupid annoying characters, stupid "romances" that are more like get laid simulators than actual romance, etc, etc.

I still have the option to kill any people who get on my nerves. Something I've wanted for a long time, I don't want to have to send them on a job they are bad at to get them out of my site. (Tali + Firesquad = bad idea) aslong as Bethesda keeps true freedom of choice (outside of the main quest of course) in their games i'll be happy.
Also Obsidian added atleast 2 romance (DURR) options in New Vegas if you want to call six buddies romances.
Red Lucy
Sarah Weintraub
And a few prosttutes in Gommorah.

Bioware is well known to be better at the story and plot than Beth which only has the sandbox going for it.

Well, I like the Beth sandbox stuff a lot more than playing Bioware games even if they do offer romance. And, I think based on what the writers at Beth are capable of producing I think they could do romance well, and that the question isn't could they do it, but whether they'd be allowed to or supported to make it as good as it could be. Dialogue hasn't always been a big priority at Beth, but if you look at the best of what they've done you can see that they have talented people working for them.

@MrAddled - lol, yes. Stupid people are stupid. Story at 11 on FoxNews.

@sapperteet - I don't think the six encounters in NV qualify as romance. Romance implies some kind of romantic courtship to me and relationship.

That's why I said "if you want to count..." it depends who you talk to, it's still a relationship non-the-less.
Also Bethesda's team is good but not perfect. I mean Chris Avellone isn't working with them, no writing staff is perfect without him.

I dont consider Bioware games better them bethesda games on any lvl, their worlds feel dead and mostly empty, their story lines little better then just an excuse for following their linear game along,.... but having said that, I have played many of their games, hoping that this aspect of their games had changed for the better, but as of yet I have seen little improvement from one game to another, tho the story might be interesting it hardly is compelling, (a vast difference) IMO, And they are way more interested in the bottom line (money) then bethesda is accused of being, they purposely hold back on content with the game for the proceeds from a DLC,... and the thought of them producing the new star wars mmo sends a shiver up my spine and not the good kind the bad kind like WTF lucas are you completely senile kind !!!

MW and OB were great without it (not counting Ahnassi) but I would like to have the option. Just don't go crazy like BioWare and make everyone a bi-sixual freak.

player romance... Would it ruin it? I guess not, but it's cheesy and it doesn't belong in a game like Skyrim. I'd vote against it pretty much no matter what. Keep that crap in Fable.

I hope they DON'T race match. All of the races are people of Nirn. If they include romance I'm sure it will be optional. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations, to quote the Vulcans of Star Trek. Granted there's still a finite combination of gender and race. If you don't want to romance a male Khajiit with your male Nord for example... don't. If you want to romance a female Nord with your male Nord, if that's what you play, go ahead. If you want no romance, don't.

Naked ladies make everything better, that's why all the classic art was full of them.
They knew what makes something truly art- nudity.

For some unfathomable reason 2d nakedness is considered quite acceptable and real nudity isn't. Strangely, the addition of an extra dimension seems to melt some peoples brains.

Someone has never played Dragon Age.

Dragon Age: Origins was a great game, Dragon Age II svcked, and they both had romance. Romance won't ruin a game... but It won't save it either.

Many people agree with you... they say "it's cheesy" or "It will be lame", but no one seems to give any convincing reasons to avoid it. Someone, please?

My opinion? Yes to romance!

Reasons? It adds a new level of depth to the game, gives me the option to role play as lone-wolf, a casanova, a black widow/lady killer... when before I was forced to play as a lone-wolf.

i really dont care if its in or not, it doesnt bother me. it adds immersion into the game, im just hoping they keep it within the same race and as long as it is optional though because then things could get hairy especially with some people not liking the idea

I'd really like it if there were a couple of romance options within each of the guilds, like side-quests to the side quests.

Not just romance of course, guildmates with actual character, friends, jerks, coworkers, et cetra.

You know, that sort of thing.

i would not mind having romance in this game for my blade-dancer styled warrior.

and to the bolded part, Isabela in DA2 and Leliana and Zevran in DAO are the only true bisixual companions in any Dragon Age game (Anders is a stretch so i don't count him), Merrill is young and at first only admires a female Hawke unless SHE pursues a romance and even then Merrill technically a lisbian as its a girl-on-girl romantic relathionship and Fenris has no Memories so we don't know about any past lovers, if he had any

Lol, you just gave me another roleplaying idea, even though I'm a guy and likely won't play very many female characters (A Black Widow/lady killer, even if we can't romance every npc)

If its simple and not dramatic then it really isn't romance now is it?

Sure it is. That's what roleplaying is for.

I haven't played other games with it and it's not something I need in a game. I think some flirting is fun. It makes you smile when you're told you're hot but anything more than that isn't something I'm looking for. I don't like cutscenes and if there's limited space to hold the game, I'd rather it contain more quests. I have a great imagination and can use that for romancing an NPC if I desire. :)

This isn't the 1950s anymore. All the bigotry against interracial relationships have turned out to be unjustified as it obviously always was.
