Onslaught (Capture The Relay, Extraction, Assault)
o Standard
o Pro
Good, maybe then there will be more people in these modes, so I can actually play sometime.
But why no "Solo"? Sure, these are Team oriented modes, but what if you don't have a Team/Squad to play with? Playing with non-talkers and headset-mic-music-playing morons against an actual Team can be very frustrating.
Retaliation Action (Team Instant Action, Instant Action)
o Standard
Decimation Action (Team Instant Action, Instant Action)
o Standard
This is a joke, right? Why in the world would you force people in Teams/Squads to play against each other in a Free-For-All? Why would you force the EEXIII, SEIII, MEIII morons to pester squads in Team vs Team?
And just think about the voting war: You force people that want to play two inherently different game modes into one lobby system. Some will want to play IA, others will want to play Team IA. And, as you've already shown with Onslaught, you will probably let people choose between two maps and two different game modes, so most likely the people who lose the vote will just leave, messing up the lobby. The people who won will be miffed, because half the lobby just left.
I mean, really, you can't be serious. Did nobody ever tell you how bad it was for people in Onslaught to get to play something OTHER than Crash Site? And those were at least all Team vs. Team modes. I understand that this is your (honestly, quite poorly conceived) attempt to re-populate the DLC Maps, but it's just a recipe for anger. The only way to repopulate the DLC, would be to integrate the DLC maps into the Standard map rotation, by way of pre-lobbies (as mentioned before by others, and explained more thoroughly below by me).
I swear, sometimes I think you people are purposely going out of your way to antagonize the crap out of the people playing.
My personal wishlist:
Team Actions: (Team Instant Action, Crash Site, CTR, Extraction, Assault)
Randomized Map Rotation, with Random first pairing, then after the Shuffle Principle, meaning only repeat after all maps have been in the lobby once.
Random Mode Rotation, meaning the same maps don't always get the same modes.
NO MODE CHOICES, meaning both maps that can be voted for have the same mode, forcing people to go out of their comfort zones and, hopefully, enjoy a little diversity.
And in the same spirit:
Team Actions Retaliation: (Team Instant Action, Crash Site, CTR, Extraction, Assault)
Randomized Map Selection from both the Standard Maps AND the Retaliation DLC.
Team Actions Decimation: (Team Instant Action, Crash Site, CTR, Extraction, Assault)
Randomized Map Selection from both the Standard Maps AND the Decimation DLC.
Team Actions Domination: (Team Instant Action, Crash Site, CTR, Extraction, Assault)
Randomized Map Selection from the Standard Maps AND BOTH DLC.
Why? Because I like a little diversity. I like to play Assault and Extraction with more than five other people. I like to play the DLC maps again some day, preferably with more than five other people. I like to give L-Tag Spammers a reason to quit. I like to share the things I like with others, show people that all of these game modes offer a lot of fun if only you take a little time to get into each of them. And the more, the merrier.
The rest has been said already:
Randomize the first map pairings!!!
Create a pre-lobby where people can choose to play on:
Standard Maps
Standard Maps + Retaliation,
Standard Maps + Decimation,
Standard Maps + all DLC Map packs,
and then choose their favorite playlists.
Creating Pre-Lobbys that would then integrate the DLC maps into the regular rotation is, in my opinion, your only real option to re-populate the DLC maps, and offer anyone a reason to buy DLC Map Packs, at all (and maybe even assuage some of the righteous anger of the people who bought the DLC, yet cannot play it, since there just aren't any people to play with!). As it stands now, you have to be extremely lucky - in Europe at least - to get any match at all on the Retaliation Maps, no matter the time or day. And if you get one, there are never more than 8 people to a lobby (8 would actually be huge), which makes the Map Pack so far a stunning waste of money. What's the point, if there are no people to play with?
I really don't understand why something like that has not been implemented a long time ago. We're not even asking for you to let the game scan which, if any, DLC we have an automatically put us into the appropriate lobby with other gamers of the same ilk. We're asking you to let us tell the game what we have, and what we want. It can't be that complicated. I'd even say it would be less complicated than merging IA and Team IA.
It should have been done from the beginning, since you already had DLC planned. But it most definitely should have been done after the Retaliation Maps had been abandoned by the community, after all the complaints of people not being able to get games going on the DLC maps, and especially after that one guy who claimed he actually got a refund for the DLC maps from Microsoft, basically saying: "I bought it but there's nobody playing it, so what did I buy it for if I can't use it?"
I really love the game, but I'm getting sick of Crash Site (which is the only game mode I can find filled to full lobbies) and I'm pissed about having spent money on the Forsaken Map Pack. Which some might call little things, but all of which could be quite easily resolved by some attentive and judicious improvements from your side, Crytek. It's the little things that are killing this game, the little things you don't do. It's just so frustrating to think about the great game buried beneath all the crap, and then, when you think there's improvement coming, you find out that apparently nobody at Crytek has any idea about what the people actually want, what the grievances actually are.
If I thought that any Crytekker were actually playing the MP on the Xbox, I would love to invite them to join me for some games to actually see what we all are complaining about. I honestly believe nobody at Crytek is or ever was consistently playing the game in this dwindling community, or else we would maybe get improvements that would actually improve stuff.
Except for the Onslaught Playlist on the Standard Maps, that really IS an improvement.
Alas, it might be too little, too late...
