Guards dropped dead tired when approach

Hi,

Reregistered since I cant find my old account and the email I used for it also bombed into oblivion.

After a long hibernation, I reinstalled my oblivion to play with ROM (Revised Oblivion Mod)..I almost have a nice working mod load .. but the guard in IC, I'm still there since arriving from the dock, have been dropping down, presuming out of stamina from the weight of their armor.. Not dead, since some do stand back up, or if you chat them before they falls, they can still chat and answer your question. I've read the ROM thread before and cant remember if this was a known case, but I wonder if anyone else encounter the same problem, and if there is any solution to it. There are also some random NPC laying around as well, and I assumed they suffered from the same problem.

A little bit offtopic if I may too.. does anyone else also encounter BSOD concerning a certain dxgmms1.sys file when playing Oblivion (or any graphic heavy games)? I'm using ATI Radeon 5450 HD 512 Mb graphic card.under win 7 ultimate, 32 bit. and I often get hit by it.. inducing me to save every few minutes in fear of it.

Well, you should re-order at least two of your mods, which are loading after your bashed patch. Don't think that's supposed to happen.

That is not the issue - I'm certain it is an OOO issue.

I've had the issue with my FCOM game and I've read of several who have issues with it in their load orders - and always OOO was in there. There was a thread about it a while back. Not http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143887-dying-guards/, but another one - I can't find it though.

OOO has a guard killing script (for replacing them with female guards or something - I forget what.

I narrowed it down to OOO by the process of saving right before entering a cell with a guard that would fall then by slow process of elimination found it was OOO. What triggers them to fall I don't know, but they didn't always.

CorePC is aware of it, but no known fix as it is now.

I see.. Its something I could do nothing about then.. since OOO was required for ROM. But its good to know the culprit so I can try to find the solution. Never played with OOO or FCOM. Was strictly TIE + MMM for me before.

At least it wasnt because of those mods as well :P .. Wont like it if I have to disable them.

@ Vercalos.. thats how BOSS sorted it.. and the main esp was correctly sorted too, so I doubt it matters.

After bash because they were unrecognized. If updating BOSS masterlist does not fix that then report in the BOSS thread.

Nope.. they were recognized by BOSS.. I read the log every time top to bottom to see if BOSS failed to recognized anything. Their main parent (bundled together) are correctly sorted (Lovers with PK)

It's a very unusual bug but it has popped up for some users. Not sure if it was pinpointed to OOO as Psymon says - but can't remember the particulars. I thought it was some weird mod interaction rather and basically unresolved. Anyway, some notes on your load order:

06 Mart's Monster Mod.esm [Version 3.5.5b4] - Preferably update to 37b3. Note that it's necessary to remove the previous MMM install before updating, but worth it as it's the most stable and best release.
07 Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esm [Version 0.9.8b5] - As above.

0B TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp - Import NPC Faces into the Bashed Patch and keep unchecked. Otherwise it will override OOO's NPC stats.

2C Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esp [Version 0.9.8b5] As above. plus optionals.

Here is how it finally hit my character so that I had to find out what the cause was.

When Baurus is guarding Martin at cloud sanctuary and I had to go to him to get instructions. I went back to the temple and found him dead on the ground but could still talk (minimally with him), but if I clicked on him his inventory came up like he was dead. I'd seen one of the guards in Green Emperor caught with this, but he is non-essential and Roadsman Fenton (as he is named by OOO) seemed hit with it too - except that because his is often on horseback it was his horse that got struck with it and http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo54/psymon11b/zSSHorseCollide2.jpg. I had a whole thread about that at one point too - some two years ago. Since then I've kept an eye on the topic. Seems to me that all reports have OOO installed.

Well since Baurus was in this state I went through and disabled every combination of mods in the FCOM load order and then reload just before entering cell with him in it. As soon as OOO was disabled (and therefore most of FCOM) he was alive as if nothing happened. The guard in the IC too.

But no fix, so what I ended up doing was sacrificing about 4 hours worth of game time (I'd already spent that long trying to figure out what mod caused it). And went back to a save when I last saw him live and played through again (making different choices and going back sooner than I had last time) and luckily he was not hit with this. The guard in the IC and roadsman Fenton still are afflicted with this in that install.

I've not seen it in the other installs without OOO.

I recall CorePC stating it may be due to the script that kills guards in OOO.

No, it's due to a bug in the version of Extra Wounding that was bundled with previous versions of MMM, caused by the Oblivion engine not bothering to report NPC stats correctly if they aren't in a loaded cell. Upgrading to the most recent version of MMM & EW should fix the problem.

Ah. very nice.. I'll go hunt for the latest MMM and download it.. I remembered my old disk have the MMM so I just installed that and didnt check for the latest version. :)


edit:
If I used OMOD to installed MMM before, would it be safe if I deactivate it and all the related mods (OOO, Cobl and body replacer in particular) from there then reinstall it ? Uninstall oblivion is something I dont really wished to do again, for the 2nd time this week actually, if I can help it .. Tooks 2 day to get where I am now.
