Armor Modding IN-GAME!

Post » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:35 am

Ok, so...

I saw all the wars about greaves and cuirasses (cuirassii? cuirassers?)
I saw a picture and then it struck me...

In Fallout: New Vegas you have mods for weapons:
for example you have a hunting rifle, all over the Mojave Wasteland you can find "Accessories" for your gun.
Like a Scope, extended magazine, or a better barrel for more precision.

Now I think there is a similar system going on in Skyrim, maybe for armor, but also for weapons.
Only instead of finding them, you create them by smithing.

Take this picture:

(thanks Luke Skyrimmer) ?

As you can see, on the left side he has a leather "shirt" beneath the straps, studded leather flaps on his fur leg protectors, and an extra leather plate on his left shoulder.
nothing confirmed, just think about it....

It's pretty much been confirmed, smithing allows you to craft leather and upgrade weapons and armor. It's some good stuff.

Yeah, I noticed this a while back and brought up the same idea then. But this was when people were still choosing between the two ideas of non-separate armor and armor with separate pauldrons, and no one would have liked to listen to anything else. But, this is much better proof to support that argument, so it seems you have the right of it.

and there's another picture, I do not dare to link to sites but there was a recent thread on this forum which linked to that site blablabla. and there was two pictures of a female, both basically had the same armor, but one had a different pauldron on the left side I think it was.

Before, I didn't care much for merged greaves and cuirasses. This! This, makes me happy! :foodndrink: There is just 2 things now that would make it even better: make greaves a seperate pice or make greaves a seperate piece and let us forge them too!

If the upgrade system is similar to New Vegas (which I don't think it will be), I hope they have more upgrades then thy have upgrade slots, having all weapons end up with all the same mods, doesn't make it feel like we're upgrading a weapon, it feels like we are getting an uncomplete weapon that we need to assemble ourselves.

If you want to play a Necromancer, can you put skulls on the shoulders of your black robe? Now we are talking customisation.

That would be nice.
I have wanted a decent crafting/forging system in elder scrolls since I played Gothic (,and I know the crafting system was very limited in that game, but it was still awesome).

This is very cool if its true, AND indeed has visual impact on how your armor looks...

Almost makes me want to forgive them for REMOVING an armor slot instead of giving us one back! (shoulders)

wait so if I had a pelt of an animal like a wolf I would be able to make armor out of it.and the skull idea is awsome by the way.

If everything said here is true that i don't care anymore about chest+shoulders+graves merged together, if you can customize everything it would be rly awesome.
