Since my PC uses components that were created after Oblivion was released, although its quite powerful (Radeon HD 5770, Phenom II 955 x4, 8gb RAM) it does not run Oblivion amazingly. Newer games seem to run faster on it simply because they were optimized for newer components. I can run it max detail at only 40fps, compared with fps in the 100's for some newer games. Along with that the newer engine may just run faster than the old one.
Anyone else think this will be the case for their PC?
I did not read all replies yet because after reading this post my brain just went 'wait what?!'.
40fps compared to 100fps, don't want to complain or anything, but I doubt that most games even run at 100fps when your PC could do it. Don't they lock the fps on games?(at least often in first person shooters and whatnot?)
2ndly, why would you care if it is 40fps or 100fps, you can't see more then 28fps.
Now on topic itself, I doubt it will actully run faster. Ofcourse it will be optimized more, so that if they were same graphics it would run faster, but I doubt it will be optimized SO much that it will run faster with the better graphics.
