Requesting Immersive Equipment Mods

Post » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:02 am

I like adding new gear to my game, but I'm also a hardcoe immersionist player, so I dislike getting free or overpowered stuff. So I'm looking for mods that add new, balanced weapons, armor and clothing to the games leveled lists so you can buy them in shops, find them in dungeons, and see them being carried by NPCs. In other words, mods that integrate their gear their gear seamlessly into the vanilla oblivion experience so well you'd swear Bethesda made them.

I've only been able to find a few mods that do this, mostly big overhauls like MMM, OOO and FCOM, though I've also found a few less well known gems such as WEPON, The Arsenal and John's Leveled List Overhaul. Any one know of some other ones?

Oh, and for clothing and armor, body type doesn't matter. Once I have a decent collection I plan to convert them to work with VORB.

Of course, Armamentarium! I knew I was forgetting a big one. I'll be sure to check out those other two also.

You are my hero. Thanks a million. I gotta say though, considering how many thousands of item mods there are, that is one disappointingly short list. I guess most modders lust don't like messing with leveled lists.

Yeah it kind of svcks, though I suppose it wouldn't be that difficult to make mods for non-integrated items that patch them into leveled lists. Maybe time consuming, but probably not very challenging to do

Problem with messing with leveled list is you pretty much have to bash them together or something will almost always get overwritten if any two mods try to modify the same level list.

If you can get permission from all the modders first anyway. That's probably a big reason why it hasn't been done much.

Not a problem for me. Is there any serious mod user that doesn't use Wrye Bash at this point? It's practically essential if you want to use more than a dozen mods anyway.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28245 This is the store.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35369 Overhaul feat Vvardenfell Imports
This one adds them to level lists and tweaks some things, so read carefully.

These items look great in game and are definitely lore-friendly.

That reminds me here is my http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2827/stylish1.jpg http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/9230/stylish2i.jpg from a while back showing off John's Leveled List Overhaul / Vvardenfell Imports. Just a Nordic Trollbone cuirass and Chitin greaves that look good together. Oh man I guess NFAA was pretty blurry

Since the thread is in purgatory we should all talk about the CODE OF THE TRUE ADVENTURER which states "I will acquire all of my equipment via random chance" :teehee:

I dunno I can understand wanting a weapon for its aesthetic value, I've installed mods like Farmers Strike Back and whatever other ones let you equip clutter items for that reason, but it's pretty fun to pick up a bunch of random unknown stuff and periodically see what works together. That is if you've got like Armamentarium and John's and a bunch of other mods resulting in thousands of new items like I do and you don't see the same thing twice that often (actually that doesn't apply to Armamentarium, that thing kind of dominates the leveled lists with its vast equipment rainbow). It's just a great way to extend the vanilla game I guess. Though sometimes what you end up with varies so much that it's hard to be stylish :(

Ah yes, the Rainbow Pimp Gear problem. As stated: if your game has a large enough variety in equipment, prioritizing stats over appearance will always result in you looking absolutely ridiculous. It is a problem that has long plagued mod heavy game installs and World of Warcraft players. :)

Man, I wish more people followed that code! Most equipment modders seem to instead follow the CODE OF THE TRUE SCREENSHOT ENTHUSIAST which states "I will acquire all of my gear from treasure chests in the Imperial City and they shall all be extremely overpowered. Also they will probably only have a female version."
