Animation replacers...

Post » Tue Jun 21, 2011 5:39 pm

Hello there! I've been playing a lot of oblivion lately and, whilst I like the default animations for combat, they become a bit stale after a while, doing the same slash, slash, slash, twirly slash, slash, slash over and over again is a bit tedious, so I started to look for some animation replacers or additional animations and, sadly, they all seem a bit... Well.
For lack of a better word, Weaboo-ish.

There's no offence meant in that, by weaboo-ish I mean: Kung-fu crazy slash animations with meter-high flips and acrobatic jumps.
Now my nord battlemage over here is a heavy armor user. It would look bloody rediculous for her to be doing those rediculously athletic moves.

What I'm looking for is some grounded, strong-feeling, sword-and-broad animations. Nothing fancy or acrobatic, but just to spice up the combat more.

Oh, and I'm running OOO 1.33 at the moment, just incase the reccomendations are incompatable.

Funny, just few minutes ago I looked through all of texnexus for the same thing and couldn't find any... :/

Most combat animation replacers I've seen tend to be inspired by Japanese anime and/or the movements are very feminine. Nothing wrong with that I guess if that's what you want, but I personally would also like to find some alternative realistic medieval weapon animations.

There were a couple of exceptions that seemed promising that I stumbled across while looking for alternatives, but unfortunately they all seemed to be in alpha or beta phases and were never finished.

Though I've never personally used it myself, http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33500 adds some animations that might go well with a male character using primarily heavy armor and such.

Also, in the future, I highly recommend using http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1196222-mod-detectives-122/ for this sort of thing. You're more likely to get multiple suggestions for your question.

I'll second the Ser Knight suggestion - I use several anims from it. Also, if memory serves, Kastien's are less anime than most - You can search KSTN on Nexus to find them.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36261 looks like it fits the bill rather nicely.
