Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim

Post » Tue Jun 21, 2011 1:03 pm

Except it still doesn't make sense. The Morag Tong was headquartered in Vivic, there is nothing left there now, when the Moon continued on its course it wiped out the entire city. The leadership is dead, most of the members are dead, the Morag Tong simply doesn't exist anymore. Besides even if they did exist , what purpose would they have considering that the houses are gone and that their government that allowed their existence is gone? The Morag Tong was not some Assassins Guild, they only accepted legally approved contracts and being outlawed everywhere besides Morrowind would make moving to Skyrim a big issue.

Good point, I just haven't read that much into all of it, I just came up with the idea off the top of my head.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the idea of competing factions and I encourage competing factions, but in this case lore-wise it does not make sense because the Dark Brotherhood has a monopoly on this market.

Since Todd Howard said that the main factions/guilds would be in the game at E3, I'm almost certain that the Dark Brotherhood will be in the game. Considering they were in Morrowing and beyond (I've only played since Morrowind so I don't know about their existence in the prior games).

I know, I'm so sick of hearing "Hail Sithis!" everytime I walk past one of the Dark Brotherhood members.

Hmm...Tribal brought up a pretty good find from the Lore that was saying how the Dark Brotherhood is more of a business than a cult, especially in the eyes of the people. Perhaps, 200 years later, they will have strayed more from the religious aspect? I think I would be happy with them if the worship was toned down just a bit.

You know I actually hope the Dark Brotherhood doesnt make it into the game if only to see these forums errupt into flames just so I can drink sweet nectar from the river of tears that is sure to follow.

But seriously at the moment I doubt that the Dark Brotherhood will be joinable in Skyrim, hell I cant even remember where it was confirmed that they will even make an appearance, as far as I can remember Todd only said how much fun they had making the Dark Brotherhood questline (or something along those lines) and everyone took it as gospel that the Dark Brotherhood will be in Skyrim, I cant remember it being officially confirmed that they will be in Skyrim.

In TES lore, The Dark Brotherhood are scattered throughout Tamriel and have been there for hundreds if not thousands of years. Even if it hasn't been confirmed, It would be sad if they did not make a return. I would like to see a guild like the morag tong. The morag tong were wiped out but there could be an assassins guild where the contracts were legal. they were in Morrowind and there is a lot of potential. A theives guild is confirmed. I would love to see the Dark Brotherhood. The story line for that faction was unbeleivable. after like the fist mission they give you a weopen and the rewards are better than $$$.

They would have compotition if a guild like the morag tong were introduced. the morag tong took legal assassination contracts. if there was a legal assassins guild it would be cool.

Read what I posted before, the Morag Tong returning makes no sense if they're dead and not to mention outlawed anywhere outside of Morrowind.

Technically the Dark Brotherhood was only in the expansion to Morrowind and even then it wasnt joinable. But while I will give you all the benift of the doubt on whether the Dark Brother is confirmed to be in Skyrim (although it would be nice if somebody could post a link the an official confirmation of their existance and not hearsay) there is nothing that says that they have to be a joinable guild in Skyrim.

This is really late but I had to say something, lol.

The DB are in vanilla Morrowind, you deal with them briefly in the Morag Tong.

In fact...

Spoiler
You get to kill the Night Mother

I just know someone's head is going to explode over that one, lol

Voted "I don't really care."

I'd prefer someone less goth, but if they're in, i'll definitely play it. Great questline. Probably the best of all the guilds. Fighter's guild didn't get good til really late, mage's guild had me helping that [censored] Traven, and the thieves' guild didn't feel thiefey enough for some reason. What I really want are MORE factions. Morrowind had some that I really wanted to make a return in Oblivion. The Imperial Cult, the Legion, etc. I'd also like to see a Daedra faction akin to the Tribunal temple for those of us who love Daedra and don't care about the nine. Anyway, as far as the dark brotherhood, they were a fun questline. I prefer the Morag Tong, but of course, they're unlikely to be as active anywhere but Morrowind.

They are a MUST! I hope this time round it's harder to join them though. I mean anybody can kill a random peasant and become an assassin?! Should have to prove you worth!
