Best suited - Was going to go with Orc but went with Khajit.. fur is fur and its a great protector against wind.

Least suited - Went with Argonian.

Throw your cat outside in the winter, and see how it likes it. Not all fur is equal. The khajiit are likely to have 1 light coat, which would do...nothing. Even polar bears have huge thick and layered coats, along with all medium and large species that live in the winter.

Desert fur and polar fur are very different.

So you're saying if I put a fennec fox in Russia it'll be just fine because it has fur?

No...that's not how it works. Khajiit, being native to a desert region, would have evolved to dissipate heat from their body easily...that's a bad thing in a cold climate...

Argonians are obviously the least fit.

Haha, wow, yes. I need to change my answer! Said Altmer just cuz Nords hate them

Anyway, interesting poll

Even a lion would be very miserable in cold climates, and likely die quickly.

Based on Oblivion norms ...

Bretons short husky build is probably good for heat conservation and their magic resistance may give them a shot escaping dragon wrath.

Altmer are tall and skinny and will freeze to death, and their elemental weaknesses make them dragon fodder. They are doomed.

Bosmer will probably also be doomed, as they will be the first ones tied to a post as an offering to bribe the dragons not to attack the local communities. At least, I'll be spreading the rumor that dragons prefer bosmer sacrifices.

orcs are most suited because apparently during the winter the wrothgarian mountains are colder then the coldest regions of skyrim and yet the orcs live on. the least suited even though they are my favorite race are the argonians not only are they cold blooded but they are used to the hot swamps of blackmarsh but there are a few who would be hardy enough to survive like Right-wind and Basks-in-the-sun.

There's some here saying that Argonians are the least suited for Skyrim survival, but something else about Skyrim makes me question that approach: the fact that Skyrim isn't all snow and cold.

You're joking right? You're saying I'm not smart because I realize that creatures that have adapted to hot weather climates will fair poorly in cold weather climates?

Really?

Instead of making stupid comments, how about you try and edumacate me since I'm so dumb...

What's funny is that the biggest evolutionary leap for humans was their ability to recognize the benefit of using blankets. This allowed them to survive the varying temperature of Africa (Over many hundreds of years, not just seasonal change) without just dying out and getting replaced by another species. This caused us to lose our fur and become very sweaty (also because we learned to store water and use it). Despite having no fur, we are very well equipped to handle cold because we can just gut an animal and wear it.

I said all that to say that in terms of enduring cold it wouldn't really matter for Khajiit or Nord, but still would for a cold blooded animal that barely tries to maintain a body heat. Even still I'm betting that a light fur would still help Khajit over Nords, but Khajit are a [censored] race overall.

Well, they are short. As everyone had the same build I don't guess they are husky, but I always imagined they would be for some reason. Not sure why, now that I think about it. Probably because they were short. But ya, I'm gonna go with husky bretons for 500, Alex.

Hrmm...I dunno. They are half elvish, and most iterations of them had them being kinda skinny. Everyone looked fat in OB.

...hot area?

They mentioned some swampy areas...like peat bogs...but...that doesn't equate to being hot. Skyrim is cold,...period. Some of it is colder than other parts, but it's still cold compared to most of Tamriel.

I'd say Skyrim has a climate closest to Ontario.

Oh I dunno... the "volcanic tundra" sort of sounds like a warmer place to me despite being another tundra...

Warmer...yes, but still cold. At it's warmest, Tundra gets up to around 50 degrees farenheit...and that's typically only during a very small part of the year. At its coldest, Tundra can dip down to -60 degrees farenheit. Plus tundra is typically very very windy.

I think Imperials are the most closely related to Nords, so they're probly he best suited

Argonians have to be the worst, even if they're somehow not cold blooded, they seem ill suited for it physically; no hair or fur, nasty habit of jumping into the nearest puddle (ice slick in Skyrim's case) :P

I think Nords or Imperials would easily do the best in Skyrim. I think Argonians would do the worst since it's the complete opposite of Black Marsh. I also Altmers will flop in Skyrim since they'll be complaing about how rugged and nasty it is that some drunk Nord is bound to cut their whiny ass down.
