Performance Mouse MX Problems

SORRY, PROBLEMS WHILE TRANSFERING THE POST, PLEASE CLOSE

Hi,

I bought a Logitech Performance Mouse MX and couldn't use the Mouse Button 4 and 5. When I want to edit the key settings, crysis 2 ignores the edding. It's like not pushing the buttons. I treid to solve the problem with setpoint software from Logitech and connect some keys to the buttons, while executing crysis2.exe but this doesn't work. Crysis 2 ignores hitting the mouse buttons while the keybord commands will work when using the keyboard. In other games (Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield) the mouse buttons works fine and I could use them without setpoint.

With the search function here I saw, that I'm not the only one using this mouse but it seems I'm the only one with this problems. Did someone has an idea what I could try to solve this problem?

I execute the program as administrator. My system:

Intel i7
Win 7 home premium x64 Service Pack 1
4GB
GTX 280M

Some games are natively aware of buttons beyond 3 better than others. If the keyboard commands youve mapped in Crysis2 work, then your solution lies with the mouse and its software. Just tinker with setpoint. Open up a blank text document and press your mouse buttons to see if they are actually sending the keystroke letters you intended.

Be aware, too, that setpoint will remap the buttons depending on the program that is currently active. It may be easier to disable this feature until you know your new mouse a bit better.

Thanks for the answer.

I'd tried it with notepad and when I connect the overwriting function in setpoint to the notepad it works. But in crysis 2 I couldn't test it. There it seems that hitting these buttons (button 3 will work fine) will cause no result. When using the ingame key/mouse setup the dialogbox wait for a command and pushing button 4 or 5 will be ignored. I tested it now while turning off the overwriting function in setpoint and the result is the same.

If the mouse is still set to send a "button 4" command when you click button 4, the crysis keyboard setup dialogue will ignore it. It only recognizes the button 1,2,3 and scrollwheel mouse commands (unlike some other games which do recognize more).

So, to get my mouse-button 4 to work as melee, I have to tell logitech to send the letter "v" when I click button 4.

With my old (and now broken) Logitech G9 I didn't have problems with button 4 and 5. Because of the patch 1.8 threat and the many problems arround I haven't installed it till today and I could say, that the problem was the same in version 1.2. Because now after installing 1.8 the problem is still allive. I turned the game recognition in setpoint to "off" so the MX should use the default functions for the keys, but crysis still ignores hitting them ingame. The work around with a key command dosen't work to. I think there is something wrong with the general recognition of the button 4 and 5 command for my MX in crysis 2.

I also test my old Razor mouse and there button 4 and 5 works fine. I didn't enjoy playing a shooter with this mouse but it seems I have to. I didn't know, what else I could try to get my MX work :-(

Wait a minute. You can turn game recognition off, setpoint button 4 to the letter "v" (for example), go into notepad and get "v" when you click button 4, and it still doesnt recognize it in-game?

I just confirmed that Crysis 2 1.8 does, now, work with the "Generic Button 4" (and 5) commands set from my logitech G500. It didnt work before (though I havent checked since release day) I'm currently just using the key command work around.

I use the exact same mouse Performance MX, I changed my button setup in the 1st tab in the general setting to how i want it mapped to the keyboard.. It doesn't allow me to use all my buttons in the advanced settings for application specific setup.. I have no issues...

I'd tried exactly this: Recognition is off and button 4 is assigned to letter "n". In notepad, when I use the button 4 I will see the "n", but in crysis 2 the game seems not to respond on hitting button 4 (or 5). This happend in settings window as well as directly in game (where perhaps hitting the key "n" on the keyboard will work).

In another attempt I set the recognition to "on" and assigned the keys directly in setpoint and only when using the crysis2.exe. But when inside the game the buttons 4 and 5 will cause no effect like above. It looks like crysis 2 dieable the buttons, I couldn't explain it in another way. It's boring, because I tried the MX in other games where no problems occurs (MW2, Battlefield, Crysis Warehead ...)

I reinstalled the setpoint software after downloading the software again from Logitech this afternoon but nothing changed. I tried a diffrent USB port for the "Unifying Receiver", tried to put the mouse direct next to the receiver when hitting the button 4, nothing helps. I couldn't find a sepearte driver for my mouse on logitech.com (only the setpoint software) so Icouldn't try to update it. At this point I'm thinking of reinstalling crysis 2 but I couldn't imagine why this should help.

It's a funny thing .. the same mouse without problems. I changed it on the first tab too (and the default functions for these buttons were inactive in Windows) but ingame hitting the buttons will cause no reaction. What a stupid and never seen before problem ...

I have found the solvation for my problems: I have to close the setpoint software before starting crysis 2. After this I could assign a function in game settings because crysis 2 recognizes the buttons 4 and 5.

Thanks everybody for the help.
