Skyrim in Minecraft 250000 Blocks [HD]

Post » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:55 am

Hey guys and girls of bethesda and the elder scrolls series. I have recently seen the interview of Notch from minecraft and Todd Howard from Bethesda and one point in the interview Todd mentions about Skyrim in minecraft. Well me and my team have already accomplished that feat about a day and a half ago after a full week of solid working on this project, a 500x500 or 250000 creation of the Skyrim Background/Banner in minecraft. I hope you guys enjoy this piece of artwork and yeah please comment, and rate it if you want. (Hopefully I'm not infringing or breaking any forum rules with this post and it is in the right section as it is artwork)

EDIT: I can't seem to get the video working using the media tags. If anyone could help me I'd be very grateful.

Oh wow. I was very confused at first, when I read the description I assumed you were trying to replicate the terrain seen in the game, but that obviously wasn't the case. So when you revealed the entire picture at the end it was quite impressive :)

You aren't doing anything wrong, the image and media tags are disabled.

OMFG!!!1! *jaw-drops* (that is as accurately as I can describe my reaction to your video)

Man, congratulations to you and your team, that is a really impressive work! I play minecraft myself, but lightly, never dedicated to make huge buildings/sprites/artworks. Related to Skyrim, the maximum I did with a friend was trying to recreate the Skyrim logo Dragon, vertically, but it didn't go very far.

When I saw the thread title I expected the same thing, or maybe just the word Skyrim with white blocks. But that? That surpassed the barrier of awesomeness.

I am curious, since I never got involved in any epic project. Do people build this kind of huge constructions in "construction mod" (as in, infinite blocks or cheats) or in survival (which would be near the impossible)?

Anyway, wow. Just wow.

Hey thanks mate for the very positive feedback. At the moment we are starting to work on a new project and this time it is of the massive MW3 banner however I was reluctant to start this as I hate CoD with a passion. To answer your question about the survival mode or in construction mod. We tried doing survival mode for about a week and a bit and had sentry's/guards patrolling around the artwork while others were building but too many creepers spawn and it is nigh on impossible to kill them all before they destroy your creations. Now I have just set the monsters to false in the server file for this as it was such a pain. We do not use construction mods however just the simple commands given to the host and op's in minecraft. This makes the projects only a touch harder but in the long run doesn't hinder you much at all. Hopefully that answered your question and thanks for watching my video.
