Imperial nobles

Post » Thu Jun 23, 2011 6:40 am

I'm creating a mod to improve parts of the Imperial city in Oblivion, for my own use, but I want to add as much lore correct stuff as possible. (I might release it if I think it's good enough.)

So I'm currently working on a revamp of the Arboretum district. I'm adding 4 houses to the outer wall and given the beauty of the surroundings they would logically be the houses of very rich nobles, probably Council members. But appart from Ocato, do we know who is on the council? or what ancient families are likely to be still around? I am thinking that the Trentius family (as they have a mausoleum) are a pretty old rich family, so that is one, but what about the others?

I will be improving Green Emperor Way as well, so if there are more names I will be adding houses and offices there :D

In the nu-mantia intercept, there is this line:

Proceed, by all means.

Though the Council may have the power to silence me, they can not enforce deafness. I am unable to confute the topic at hand in my sterile state.

Feeble and counterproductive am I in my position handed down by the Council.

Divayth Fyr

So Divayth Fyr was, at least, there with the council. (I am uncertain whether Position handed down implies membership in the council, or another position)

then there is this, also from the intercept:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will second the Chancellor, though he needs none.

If the gentleman surrounded by moths would please move on to the present threat assessment phase of his quadragraph....

Hasphat Antabolis

So Hasphat Antabolis is a member of the elder council.

Also, it's important to note that Nu-hatta addressed the council as "elders" and not "councilmen" or some other phrase.

I don't know about Hasphat, but I think Fyr is not actually part of the council proper ("my position handed down by the council"), but more like an adviser.

I'd go with one or two relatives of the counts/countesses - ruling families tend to be big and widespread, it'd make sense if some of them sat in the council or maintained houses in the IC.

That was my inkling as well, but we also don't know too much about the elder council's organization. It could also be that certain members are simply more impotent then others.

Agreed. You might also want to throw in relatives of noble families from other parts of Tamriel, like say High Rock, that are living far from their family's traditional estates.

Right thanks guys :D I do remember reading that Barenziah stayed in a house in the IC, and the King of Wayrest also had a house I think... or would they have been rented?

Also would Crassius Curio have a house in the IC (even if he is not there himself)? It just occured to me to check if there is a list of Imperial nobles from Morrowind :D Plenty of fodder there.

I assume the proper-scale Imperial City would have embassies that essentially are homes and offices for representatives from the provincial governments.
