Oblivion shaky on my PC

Post » Thu Jun 23, 2011 2:03 am

Im not getting lag but every so many steps its like my fps drops for a second and has to load the distances. I feel like my PC should handle this no problem. I run Crysis 1 and 2 max. I have a Asus Crosshair IV Formula board, Amd phenom II X6 1090T, sapphire hd raedon 6970 2 gig. And 4 gigs of ram. Is it just a problem with the engine?

Have you downloaded/tried any mods like An FPS improver or a Stutter remover?

Definitely not the PC, if you run Crysis maxed. Your CPU & GPU are also good, so I'm not sure.

Maybe try mods like the first guy said.

Like RAF1940 said it's the game not your PC i'll post my specs which are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lower then your and i run Max settings/Qarls texture pack(full) and better cities and stuff.

Quad core 2.80GHz
Nvidia Geforce 9800GT
RAM 4GB

So you can obviously run it x10 better than me.

How many steps do you reckon? Every hundred or so?

Temporary brief FPS drops while traveling outside is normal behavior in this game. The reason behind this is due to the cell-based architecture the game uses to load the exterior environments. As you travel, the game is loading in new cells and unloading others, and as it does this, the framerates drop. This is called stuttering, and it is a performance problem that is deeply rooted in the game's engine and is, for the most part, unfixable. Even the console versions suffered from stuttering.

Yes I am but it was fine without them but then I got went on a mad modding spree and thought it was best to get them.

Just had a thought: are you running so many mods that you might be using more than 4GB of RAM?
