Anti-Sniper Mod?!?

Post » Fri Jun 24, 2011 1:14 pm

Guys ive been seeing this mod on several people now, i dont know what it is but it scrambles the screen(ive seen the same effect in campaign i believe) when you target the guy with sniper and does this weird sound. Basically it becomes really f..kin hard to shoot straight. Can anyone clarify what that mod is?

deflection? awarded for loosing 5 times in a row.

Gives a chance to deflect bullets, jaws can sometimes bounce back at you, and some anti sniper features.

Is that it? I always assumed it was a byproduct of the Jammer module...

Yeah, as other people have mentioned it's called 'Deflection', a kind of catch-up module that activates when you die 3 or 5 times in a row without scoring any kills yourself.

When sniping the deflection-enabled player will be hard to hit because the game will literally nudge your scope away and messes up your visor to make it harder to see. Additionally it also adds extra resistant to damage in armour mode, so if in a duel, both players having the same armour and hits, the one with deflection will survive.

One they score a kill their deflection fades and they become as easy to defeat as anybody else really. I rather like this because it gives the poor players a chance at making any progress in game.

One thing to note is that Deflection does not make them invincible! On the contrary, as hard as it is to aim at them you can indeed score headshots on Deflection-clad players and the Domination skill assessments even give you rewards for performing such a feat! Deflection's just allows an average player the edge needed to make at least one kill per match.

Interesting, I have come a cross this too. I always assumed it was because I got tagged. I found it very frustrating when this happened. Now I know to just move onto another target when sniping. When my screen starts wiggin out I am never able to hit the player. Never. And it usually leads to my demise. Specifically with the Gauss. Don't know about the DSG.

I didnt know what it was, so I persisted. I definitely get the kill most of the time with the DSG, but it takes a few shots.

Does deflection also bounce-back bullets to the shooter? I've heard it said, but that seems, um, goofy.

Pretty sure it's part of the jammer bonus. Deflection increases damage mitigation making the DSG take 3 shots to kill on the upper body and not two. No, it doesn't bounce bullets back.

This is quite easy to "counter" once you get better and faster, almost to the point where it has no effect. For a stationary target you should be able to acquire his head and fire off near instantly. If he is moving and you can score a headshot you basically need to take a second to predict his path and twitch quickly for a kill. If you have to go with body shots (low probability of a successful headshot) you can twitch in for a hit and quickly off the target and again in for the kill once you can fire again.

You just need to be very fast and very precise and as far as you are concerned they just wasted a module slot.

So Jammer is the reason for screwing up aim while in scopes? I thought it only impacts radar.

Not sure if they changed it, but it has a chance to deflect bullets, so I've been hit by a bullet I've fired into someone at very close range (with feline, a lot of bullets into them). Also i've had a Jaw bounce back at me twice, though never been killed by that, its just freaked me out. On Lighthouse, they were really quite far away, fired the jaw at them, then it bounced back at me lol.

I haven't been hit by a bullet from someone with deflection for a very long time though, instead bullets seem to ping off in a weird arc. So I wonder if they nerfed deflection....

I quite like it, as it does give some players a chance to get a couple of kills.

DSub, its not a jammer bonus... it is deflection... i'm 100% sure of this because as my previous posts i've explained this

I was levelling up deflection assessments (getting 15 headshots with someone who has deflection)... and was testing this out on a teammate.
Here's the stats of Deflection module:

1) Will scramble 'Sniper Scopes' only when its aimed at ur neck or head... with grayish scope effects and magnetic push away from the head. Not forgetting the funny sound you get when your scope gets scrambled.

2) For the person having the deflection module, if a sniper aims at your head, you will hear a soft beeping alarm to tell u that your head is being aimed at.

3) It will not scramble reflex or 4x scopes. Deflection will deflect bullets when shot at. You will notice this when you hear a strange bouncing sound when shooting at someone with deflection, and you can see the bullet tracers curve away from the body. Take note that the tracer deflection are curvy.

4) You will lose your deflection module when you kill someone.

** For those wanting to level up the Deflection headshot modules... i've found that the best way to level it up is to kill someone with deflection with a one shot kill at the head using a sniper rifle. So i spent most of my time with DSG-1, hunting people who scramble my scope and wait for them to stand still for a one shot kill to the head.
I realized when i use rifles and SMGs, and kill them with headshots, it doesnt register.... perhaps you must damage them with headshots only... no body shots at all.
