It would be sweet if we could start using the texture pack, i'm gonna start DLing it now, the guy probably had to cdrack a .pak file or two who knows the above forum is all in Alemans.

Some of them barely look different. but of course. this is without tesselation on the walls. So we haven't seen the full difference yet :D.

I don't see too much of a difference. I am also sad to see the textures on the hands weren't updated. Those gave me the biggest eye sore.

Agreed. The ground still looks bad.

Well on closer examiniation the ground is clearer, but not clear enough.

The other big difference I noticed was text on objects like barrels and trashcans is a lot more readable.

But as far as the ground goes, there is no POM and Tesselation applied to the ground in those pics, so we haven't seen the full changes.

I'd love to try this out to see what kinda hit the GPU / RAM takes. :D
Anyone know how to do this?, ...

Nope but apparently it uses about 150-200mb more VRAM according to the german thread through google translate.

That would bring my VRAM to 950MB (MP), very nice start. :D
(i can't see the 'quote' or the 'edit' bottons on the forum now, no worries,
started using explorer 64 bit yesterday that'll be why).

Before going, "DURR IT STILL LOOKS BAD WTF" Technically, it IS high resolution, they have never said whole new textures pack, they only said High Res Textures. I think it looks good, use the ground is clear and less pixelated same goes to walls and objects.

What I see looks good, if not mind blowing. That said, I'll believe this is how it actually looks when I see it on my machine. Crytek said this shouldn't work without 1.9, so I'm not even convinced it installed correctly. Either way, these improvements coupled with dx11 will be incredible. Can't wait!

Folks at the forum in the OP seem to be using new textures, using commands like : r_texturestreaming 1 , anyone know if it's a difficult job?

Just to say one thing... It's quite quite better. Every texture on picture is improved.
-Doors, you can look that it is a lot sharper then low texture... no jagged textures no blury crap, just pure texture.
-ground, it also looks quite sharper and it really doesn't need any more sharpness because it will also have POM.
-bricks, pay attention to the bricked pillar, bricks are VERY sharp compared to low texture. Also note the base of the pillar its quite sharper as well.
-bricked fence, check out the bricked fence! you can see that its a lot sharper then in low texture. It shines out in sharpness.
-leaves, check out those leaves too, they look sharper and less pixely at the edges unlike in low texture where its much blurier and quite pixely at the edges.
This amount of sharpness is all i need from high resolution texture pack. If it was sharper then i would need 2gb vram which i don't have, plus i need to have some vram for DX11 features too.

Wonder if they have made all of that writing on objects and signs better. They look like something from Half Life 1. Mine you, Alice Maddness Returns is another game that looks like a straight console port because the textures are mostly crap. PhysX is good though.

well yep the only dfference between console nd PC is nvidia PhysX, which looks quite amazing and makes low texture crap forgivable.
to the topic, Ofc writings on objects and sign look better! they will be quite sharper, if u see on this pic that its way sharper then thats how sharper text will be, maybe even sharper :)
