Fallout Tactics Worth Buying?

Post » Fri Jun 24, 2011 5:43 pm

For the time being Fallout 1,2 and Tactics are on sale at GOG.com (good old games) for 2.99 each. I already have Fallout 1 and 2, my question is whether or not Fallout Tactics is worth the buy? Thanks for your help.

Yes BUY IT!. Also it isn't a RPG so just giving you the heads up. It is a tactics squad based game.

You are a noob in the BoS aka the Midwestern Brotherhood. You are in control of the people under you. You pick your team, their weapons, armour, how they respond to enemies, skills and perks. There is also a real time option. :tops:

For so little money, you just buy it and find out yourself if it's good or not. It's not exactly a great loss ;)
And yeah, it isn't an RPG but the RPG skills and such are still left in the game so... don't try to make a diplomatic character, because every Mission involves killing people. So Speech is kind of useless (my favorite skill! *sob*)

At the prices GOG charge, I don't think anythings not worth buying - especially when its 50% off.

Is it wise to use Real Time option in tactics?

For me it's very situational. If your facing down a few weak enemies I keep it on real time. If there a hard fight I always go Turn based. So you can actually use some tactics other then frantically click around and give lots of accidental move orders, while trying to click on the stuff you want to do. :P

I have a holotape message from General Barnaky:

"So you think you're good enough for the Brotherhood of Steel, do you Recruit? Then stop sitting on your duff and get that game loaded into your computer ASAP! Dismissed."

I only play Tactics in Real Time. For many reasons. Having 5 squad mates with me attacking large numbers of enemies. The game would be super slow having to wait for everyone to take their damn turns. Also I can set my characters up to shoot away while I do something tactical. I like real time. I managed to make it all the way to Vault Zero using Tough Guy mode but the file became corrupted.

I only use Real time when I'm using Monty Python Tactics (RUN AWAY!) or if I'm searching for a new hood ornament for my hummber *Bump*, nah, that ones no good, steer left a bit *Bump* yeah, thats better.
