adding Fun Perks !

Post » Sat Jun 25, 2011 6:01 pm

I was looking into Skyrim and as i was looking at perks i notice that they only include perks related to skill

I was kinda bum out about this, in Fallout 3 and 2 i miss those perks like Cannibal, Lady killer, Strong back and Mysterious Stanger i would like to see SOME Fun perks in Skyrim maybe something like
Cannible, Animal wisperer, sense enemies, Mysterious Friend who kills enemies, Child at heart where children follow you and give you things, Ale doesnt lower and stats, Likeable Savage "beast races like you" civil person "civil people like you" are some examples of fun perks insted of competitive ones, is there any word if we will get perks like these or will all perks be competitive?

That might be pretty complex. Complex as in, on variable, I guess. For starters, these perks have to have some reasoning behind them. I feel TES is a bit more lore heavy and what not than Fallout which has a more wacky undertone if you ask me. They'd also have to be race specific. Who ever heard of a manly wood elf or a nord who has an above average reading ability?

The Wood Elves in the Fighter's Guild and the Nords in the Mage's Guild.

Yeah there should be fun perks, but were some of those poll questions really necessary?

For the last one I chose C because C is always right... statistically speaking of course.

The Wood Elves in the Fighter's Guild and the Nords in the Mage's Guild.

You can have failures in a guild. As for your own character taking over? They can't deny you part of the story based on character. Especially with achievements linked to it.

Well, considering that it is confirmed that htere will be somewhere around 280 perks, I would guess there would be planty not directly associated with kicking a** and taking names :disguise:

I think that the more important, skill-based perks should be given priority, and then all these extras could be given attention. I do think it could be fun, however, I'd like to see perks doing something interesting, not just increasing stats or increasing the probability of some event. It would also be pretty cool if certain perks had an effect on the Player Character's physical appearance.
e.g. Perk: Barbarian Effect: Quicker Two-Handed Combos Physical Appearance (though obviously not listed in the perk description menu): Player Character has a constant look of anger while perk is activated.
OR
Perk: Flirt Effect: %15 Bonus to Disposition of the opposite six Physical Appearance: Player Character: walks with a swagger, or some sixy stance and grin

By the way... That is the most pointless, random poll in cyberspace...

This is the weirdest poll I have ever seen on these forums.

I'd have to say they made it slightly different from Fallout 3 to avoid taking away from whatever niche for perks that they might be able to exploit in Fallout 4. As in, they probably thought if they made perks in a similar way to how they were in Fallout 3, many people would complain about it or that it might be using too many features from different games, possibly.

You guys will have to forgive me if anything I said above didn't make sense; I have a furious headache atm.

Yeah, they should give these perks a distinct Skyrim feel, and, as mentioned in some other thread, probably give them a name better fitting to a fantasy RPG, not a shooter - e.g. 'abilities'
There should be a great difference between these and those of Fallout in terms of style, etc.

They certainly changed a heck of a lot of Fallout into TES stuff by dumbing down attributes, skills, armor and weapons, dialogue, factions and even free roaming since nothing in FO3 was every higher than your character there was not much risk to wandering (i.e. wandering into super mutant territory at low levels was pretty ballsy in the originals but it could reward you well)..
