Is that pan for cooking?

Post » Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:04 am

What I've been wondering for a while is if we are going to be able to use miscellaneous objects in combat. Pans, shovels, torches, hammers, scythes... All the things you couldn't in Oblivion. So there's a cooking skill. If pots and pans are used for that, am I going to be able to pick up the pan after cleaning off the omelette residue and whack some dragon's teeth out? Or simply shove a torch in a guy's face in the middle of combat?

I hope so, but if it isn't there by now, then there probably won't be. Discuss it below!

Cool Misc. Object Weapons List:

- Pan
-Shovel
-Torch
-Hammer
-Scythe
-Goblet
-Hoe
-Rake
-Spoon
-Fork
-Spatula

I thoroughly enjoyed smacking Deathclaws in the head with the rolling pin from the wicked old ladies in FNV.

It might make an interesting mod to add lots of farming tools to the game to be used as weapons.

Also would be interesting to make all the regular weapons extremely expensive, so that when you start out the game as a poor escaped prisoner, you are forced to use farming tools to fight until you can save up to afford expensive real weapons.

Yes, that would be awesome! I've always wanted to throw a goblet at an Argonian.

I agree, although a simple iron sword should not be "extremely expensive." I think that you should be able to get it by level 1, because as much as I want to smack a dragon in the teeth with a shovel, I want to get my hands on a nice broadsword as soon as possible.

I don't see the point... You should be able to use them for their real life purpose... I guess being able to wield them wouldn't hurt the game at all, but I don't really think it would help it either.

It WOULDN'T help it. But it would make it fun and funny to stab somebody with a random fork.

It could even be fun to create a mod that limits the PC to only using farming tools for weapons until he completes a quest of, say, getting a royal permit to carry weapons, or something similar.

As I suggested in my unarmed thread, ages ago, I'd like to use my environment as a weapon. Chairs, watermelons, rocks, anything. But I'm not going to be sad when that won't ahppen, because it won't :P

While it would be immensly fun to go beat up some giants with spatulas, and I would plan to do so myself, the main reason I would like to see this is for more realism. I would love to see farmers come at me with whatever farming utensil they can get there hands on. Rakes, hoes, scythes and even frying pans would hurt more than untrained fists. But then again, don't all Nords know how to fight via tavern brawls? :P

I can imagine you walking around the land, exploring dungeons, looking for dragons and their loot. As you find a cave with potential treasure, you stumble upon the resident - a bronze colossusdragon - and you start running down the mountain. On your way down you spot a few rabbits running around the fields and, seeing as you want to make a profit, decide to stuff them down into your backpack. However, the dragon's catching up with you. In fear or pure, great insight, you take one of the bunnies out and curl it into a small ball and hurl it towards the enemy at supersonic velocities. As the dragon comes into the line of fire, you watch as its now severed head sails off in an arc and the body comes crashing down. You finally sit down at the petrified carcass, grab a few bones and head to town, only to find out that you can't sell the bunnies.

Misc. Objects use and throwing skills... Reminds me of Dwarf Fortress.

LOL

I'm sure we will see some funny youtube videos of people fighting a dragon with a spork, for example or some other silly object
