Eating and drinking animations in skyrim

Post » Tue Jun 28, 2011 2:05 am

So I was thinking back on oblivion and i remember this glitch that happened to me when I ate something I got the NPC animation of eating. So I was thinking maybe in skyrim do you thing there should be animations for eating and drinking for you along with the NPCs?

It doesn't really bother me at all. It adds nothing to game play what so ever. It might even get annoying the 50,000 time I see it.

Pass...

I usually drink beaucoup potions, so that'd be a bunch of animations. As to eating, meh. I see them just like finishing moves; they add nothing to the meat of the game and have a great potential to get tedious.

All I see them doing is slowing the game down. Much like the much ballyhoo'ed ability to sit in Oblivion. Did it once, then only one more time in a quest.

I'd like the animations to be there (I use a mod in Oblivion that makes my character do the animations when he eats and drinks). Also I'd like it if the animations lowered the speed you can consume stuff. And if you'd need a free hand to eat and drink. I've never liked the idea of being able to drink 4 health potions instantly without even using your hands in the middle of a fight when a guy is beating you the whole time.

Exactly. With animations we would have to think before using a potion. If an ennemy is too close you'll get hit and won't be able to drink the potion. And drinking 4 potions in 0 seconds is kinda weird.

To me, it was the little touches like the various animations that made RDR a really special game. They helped bring our character to life and make him seem more than just a stiff robot like previous Elder Scrolls games. I'm all for more animations. Todd already stated that they were really focused on the animations this go round, so hopefully they will be included.

I totally agree... but after around 10 straight hours of game-play, i at least want the option to skip

I just hope the glass/cup is at their mouth, so many games have this problem where the character is drinking from either their nose or chin. *cough*Witcher 2!*cough*

I personally would like to see this, but I understand where people are coming from when they say it would be annoying.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyAgSq37NmA&feature=related allowed you to pick apples off of trees and eat them, and even eat lizards off of the walls, and drink from mugs. Skyrim should offer at least close to what Rune did IMO.

The animations for your character should appear only in third-person. That way, when it gets tiresome, you can skip it

i can agree with that to an extend, but after a couple of hours, i wouldn't even bother skinning animals, or picking flowers, since the cutscenes had become so tedious, but perhaps that's just me.
