I have a heavily modded morrowind and am experiencing two problems.

1. I get completely random CTD and there doesn't seem to be a specific thing that's causing it. It can happen at the main menu or 10+ minutes into play. No error message and its not in any specific places.

2. I get an error from NOM "Trying to set short 0 in script nom_well_water when there are only 0 local shirts. Continue running executable?"

Any suggestions to fix either of these? Thanks for any help, I put alot of work into this and I would really like to fix these issues. I also use MGE 3.8

First of all, how is it you can run 261 plugins? That's not supposed to be possible!

The ground cover mods shouldn't actually be activated, so there are really just under 255 plugins there.

An assortment of the mods such as the pov distant activators, vurts trees, and grass mods don't get checked they run through mge. With that said I cant run a single mod more then what I have ;P

Use the exe optimizer if you don't. Disregarding that, no clue.

Do you get fewer crashes when starting a New Game?

If you are adding, removing, and changing mods while trying to use old save games, you will very likely get a crash.
The two ways to fix this are:
-Use Wrye Mash to repair your saves
-Use MCP (Morrowind Code Patch) which fixes a bug in how Morrowind deals with changed mods. You should be running MCP anyway because it fixes a whole bunch of things.

I believe this isn't needed with MCP which can patch the EXE.

3. MGE XE is IMHO much more stable than MGE.

I would like to add though that I've found CTDs to grow exponentially with the rise in the number of mods used. The most I've been able to use without a noticeable rise in the CTD rate was about 170 and I've never been able to keep a game stable above 220 mods.This will be especially true if you use lots of script heavy mods. I must say though that you use an impressive list of mods. I use 2/3 of the same ones.
