"You can put what you want in each hand"

Post » Tue Jun 28, 2011 1:55 pm

I love this idea. I always dreamed of being able to have duel wield weapons or spells. Todd Howard confirmed this in any interview and as we have seen in the gameplay. Now this may be very hard to explain but what about changing the side of the weapon your holding?

Confusing? I know.

Lets say your holding a claymore. In Oblivion you held a claymore more to your right.

- I really doubt Todd has thought of this but do you think you should be able to hold it towards to your left or keep it to your right for a claymore/axe? (I REALLY HOPE THIS).

Same with a bow. Just say your holding a bow when your pulling it back ready to fire (not in sneak) and your holding the arrow with your right hand.

- Should we be able to pull the arrow with our left?
- If we are pulling the arrow with our right should we be able to choose if we place the arrow on the right side of the bow or the left? (Perhaps you don't have to choose it every time, you just have to select it once, and you will always place the arrow to your right/left?

That bit may be a little confusing, confusing for me as well. ^

Please post and tell me what you think? Just a little something that can make the game a little better.

As for two handed melee weapons it would only be an aesthetic option, holding the weapon to the right or to the left, unless they actually made different stances like a defensive stance compared to an offensive stance.

I was wondering the same. Like if you assign it to your left hand, you hold it lefty style. Really only for role-playing aesthetic maybe, but it would be cool.

Maybe you will be able to select the primary hand for two handed weapons. I hope that's the case, anyway.

Well it would be cool if you could make your character right/ left handed at the beginning of the game. But It doesn't matter all that much to me.

I actually never thought of this, however, I don't think we'll see it, because it would really just be an aesthetic difference. Dual wielding actually changes gameplay, but I don't see which had you hold your bow in doing that, as realistically you'd just do it whichever way you have the easiest time with, so Bethesda probably won't do this level of customization.

Though I guess they could always let you choose whether your character is left handed or right handed at the start, and this would determine which hand weapons are more effective in and also adjust your two handed weapon animation appropriately, more likely, though, Bethesda wants both hands to be equally effective.

Or you could simply put, we'll use the bow again as example, in the left or right hand slot and it will automaticly use the proper hand to hold the bow and pull back the string.
