Just changing one setting drops 40-50 frames from my performance, I know tessellation is a resource hog but this is too much for one setting. Wouldn't it be good if you could add just a little bit of tessellation for slower cards, a bit more for the slightly faster ones, then have the ultra frame-dropper settings for the hardcoe enthusiast and the rich kid with with quad SLI 590's?

For tweaking the tessellation check your GFX card setup tools, you should be able to adjust the overall tesselation amount in there.

I've tried that already, worse performance tbh. I put it on it's lowest setting bar off (2x) I think it doubles what tessellation the game is doing rather than decreasing it.

i put mine up to 64times and noticed nothing other than a FPS drop.

Yeah I think it just multiplies the tessellation done up so it look sharper/thicker.

Yea thats what is "supposed" to do. but i cant see it. even if i am staring at the ground or werever the tesselation is. so i just leave mine at "AMD optimized."

Wow the new graphics look barely different, just a bit more detail from the tessellation but otherwise it looks the same -.-

Keep in mind they are both ultra spec, just object quality is on extreme in the first one.

Sorry to say it, but the 5770s just don't have a lot of grunt when it comes to tesselation. Even when you have a pair of them they're not going to be as effective as a single more modern mainstream+ card.

They were an awesome card for the price when they came out and they do have a lot to give considering the cost, but they were only ever meant to be a little bit above entry level gaming cards.

Well obviously compared to the HD 6xxx and 5xx gtx series but last gen they were pretty phenomenal in crossfire, even beating the 5870 in some benches.

But my argument isn't whether they should be fast enough to max out the game obviously they aren't, my argument is there should be different levels of tessellation to choose from rather than going one setting up and losing 40 fps. It's at 70 fps before the ultra setting to objects is applied, sure it can handle a small bit of tessellation but not a **** full.
