It looks great...

I think the reason that every one wants(expects) this game to push the boundries graphicly (as well as provide massive open world RPG game play) is becuase Oblivion seemed to do exactly that at the time of it's release.

I might be wrong but i seem to remember just about every gaming magazine i read back then saying that Oblivion was the best looking game out there. I remember looking at the pics in the PC gamer and i was wowed!

So back to my point. There is little doubt in my mind that Skyrim will be an amazing in depth adventure on all Platforms. But i think the reason these forums are having so many debates about the graphics (Dx11 and so on) is that alot of people are expecting Skyrim to push the limits of modern hardware as it did back when Oblivion was released!
Sure it is pushing the xbox to it's limits, but Oblivion was pushing a high end PC to it's limits at the time of it's release!

I was kind of expecting this as well.

However, just by looking at the Xbox footage shown it's Obviously looking really nice and going to be a fine looking game on all Platforms ,so i'm really not that fussed :D

Just seeing how buzzing these forums are 5 months before release is Testament to how good these games are!!

I will be buying mine for the PC...and i can't damn Wait :D :D

Oblivion's graphics were good enough for me. I wouldn't really care if they used the same graphics for Skyrim.

I think they pushed the 360 so hard that it may as well explode. We need better hardware. The Battle of Bruma needed better hardware, and that was in 06.

It DOES look great, but it's still not quite up to par with a lot of the other game we have out there. I think that's why people complain.

Every TES games had great graphics at release. Skyrim wont have "stunning" graphics simply because it is the same old 6 year old consoles they are making the game for

Agreed.

Plus, we can expect The Elder Scrolls VI: Thras to make good use of the next gen consoles' hardware in a few more years. :goodjob:

ya.. even Minecraft looks brilliant with 256x256 TP

Gameplay > Graphics argument.. only valid when using a console because better the graphics less game there is PC if you can't get those uber graphics you can still play the game on high not very high but those who can just improve the game so much more. For example the texture improvement that were user created sure in the hell made the game more enjoyable undoubtedly

Only valid on consoles? I believe it's the opposite of that.

But other games arent't as big and have as much detail.

People who can't understand that are ignorant and/or stupid.

The graphics are plenty good enough

how so? Games have been proven to both have graphic and game play on PC.. where is such on a 360 or PS3?

MAG 256 players [censored] graphics but its still tons of "game play"

Halo Cartoon graphics good large SP and decent online play.

Crysis 2 best graphics on the current console that is multiplatform but the game is tiny..

Bad company or Battlefield 3 24 player servers great graphics.

PC

Crysis self explanatory its a Huge sandbox game each part has excellent graphics that you can go anywhere you please.

Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3 for PC BF3 has 64 player servers larger maps, BC2 has more players but DICE was too lazy to make new maps

Witcher 2 has the great graphics need a beast of a PC today to play it and sitll is a fairly large game even though the world isn't connected together the you can go into the different rooms without going into a separate cell

ArmA series unlimited gameplay bigger maps then today's TES game have MW, OB, Skryim combined throw in FO still smaller and thats just one map. Again you need Beast of PC to max but you can play on medium or very low and enjoy the game.

I think they're OK. Not bad, not good - OK. Definitely not fantastic or stunning or amazing.

I'm a bit disappointed becuase when I first heard "We can now confirm that the TES V: Skyrim engine is all-new. And it looks fantastic"... I thought of something that looked much, much better than what we have been shown already.

There dozens of other new games that look better or incredibly much better than Skyrim, however... we need to consider that Skyrim focuses on different things (more on extensive worlds with extensive amounts of content, thus the 300 hours of gameplay).
I'm OK with the graphics looking OK for that reason.

If gameplay ia bigger than graphics, why are so many people worried about graphics? Because graphics matter. You seem to forget a lot of the people on this forum are PC users.

Graphics can make or break a game, just as gameplay can. And while im not saying skyrim is ugly... It's just not what is expected of an elder scrolls game. 'course, we blame it on the xbox 360, whose life is coming to an end (dont listen to microsoft.. 6 years is too long), but that doesnt justify bethesda's way of handling the pc version. Sure we can always hope.. But who are we kidding: all we get is 'high-rez textures', anti-aliasing and draw distance...

Okay i forgot mods. But my point is: graphics matter. Skyrim deserves better than being an xbox-port.

I'm fine with it, because my computer's terrible anyway. It'll do well to run it on Medium.
But yeah, I expected the game to look much better, although it's still definitely satisfying in terms of graphics.

Did I ever say I wasn't on the PC? Graphics matter most on consoles, I believe. Because everyone is watching you play and all.

Why Thras? I'd rather go to another country in Tamriel's mainland, or even Akivir!
Sloads wouldnt be fun.

Black Marsh is the most likely since the Argonians took over Morrowind. We might even be able to explore the mainlands of Morrowind.

I also frequently support the removal of all playable races other than Sload, and the triumphant rise of the glorious Sload Empire. I guess it's kind of an ongoing joke. I'm quite sure TESVI won't be set in Thras. :P
