Insane Idea for new power armor !

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:22 am

I don't know this idea was bopping around my noodle, but it seems a bit broken and maybe game breaking not to mention undoable. Also its so strange that its probably to science fiction for anyone.

Anyway a lot of people are talking about duel wielding which I hope gets in to some degree. Ok so what if there was power armor developed that added another set of limbs to be specific two more arms so you would have four. That means with this armor you could quad wield single handed weapons. The way I see it we have the technology now to make robotic prosthetic limbs that run on nerve impulses now, and if say the brother hood got a hold of that and added it to power armor so that extra set ran with your normal functioning arms you could fire off four guns at once and bring the pain. It would at least add some more challenge to a fight enemies who have it. I guess to balance it maybe you can only use one handed weapons and the armor class can be lower. I think fallout might have also mentioned this with you growing extra limbs but I figure an armor would be better cause then it wouldn't look so odd with other armor with mutated extra hands, and it think it would be hard to do to begin with.

Also I was watching Total Recall and wondered why we couldn't get something like the hologram device he had in that. Basically when used puts out a combat decoy?..much like the one we have seen in Bioshock one and two. Basically sets up a hologram decoy the enemies attack so you can flank em or something.

We don't have a hologram because technology for the most part (outside of certain factions) halted after like 1950?

Tech didn't stop at the 1950s. It stopped at the mid Twenty First century. They just developed differently and stuck with the 50's mindset. Holograms could certainly be a reality. Adding an extra set of mechanical arms is just the sort of crazy impractical thing they would do also.

Wow. People wonder why the Devs don't take this forum's ideas seriously. This is ridiculous, lol.

I don't really like the idea of an extra set of arms. It's not entirely out of sync with a 50s mindset of the future...but its not particularly in sync with it either. I wouldn't mind some dual wielding in New Vegas so long as it had some effective disincentive. Perhaps Dual Wielding only possible with a Perk/Trait that makes one much better with pistols but much worse with Rifles and Shotguns and other such Two handed weapons

Kind of like Quick Shot from F 1/2. It takes less AP to take a shot but you can't do targeted shots anymore. Could even just remake that as "Itchy Trigger Finger" or something and make it so it takes considerably less AP in VATS but you can't target head/arms/legs/weapon but only body.

awful idea, i would like them to go back to the way power armour used to look,
fast shot was nice, what i always did was take finesse til i 21 (while equiped with a guass rifle with the aimed shot on or any weapon really) pick mutate to and switch finesse to fast shot and picked up sniper at 24, as long as you always reloaded from your inventory screen you could keep your targeted shots, ended up costing me 4 ap per aimed shot with that puppy

It's not at all out of place, since http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waldo_%28short_story%29 are very fifties sci-fi.

That doesn't sound anything like Fallout to be honest. I don't like the idea.

I don't really like the idea of extra armed power armour but what about something like the lifter suit Ripley from aliens had? It might be out of place to.
Some kinda shoulder mounted weapon would be good.

I like the hologram idea. Fallout 2 was to have holograms.

An Idea I had for a unique weapon was a

" A proto-type stealth power armour. The Americans had got their hands on the chinese stealth suit plans during the war. (Sino-American War) They used it to make their own stealth suit power armour hybrid. It has a heads up display screen were your face is. It locks on to targets and you can fire a shoulder mounted plasma weapon. you can also carry a weapon in your hands. One neat things it does. It projects a holographic image of an american soldier 20 feet out infront of you. This is to draw out snipers.

Only thing is the army could not get the damn thing to work right. Without warning it's stealth can shut down."

It might be to predator.

Some kinda Robotic arm backpack maybe?

Whoa. Where there's just so many possibilities. Shooting 2 rifles at time, wielding 4 swords and hacking a guy to bits, or punching a guy with 4 fists. I imagine it'd look a bit funny. Maybe some sort of robotic enemy with 4 arms or wearing some sort of robotic 4 Armed Power Armor would be cool, but I think it'd make the player too overpowered and make weapons a bit hard to manage. Picture keeping track of 4 pistol's ammo count at a time, and how would we reload them separately? :lmao:
