Official: Future Fallout Locations Suggestions Topic #7

Post » Wed Jun 29, 2011 2:38 pm

There have been a number of threads started to promote the idea of a particular location as a great setting for the next Fallout game. We have decided to keep the suggestions and discussion of different location ideas into one thread. Any new threads started about a location idea for Fallout will be locked or moved to this thread.

This thread should be used to discuss the different settings you think would work for a future Fallout game. Feel free to toss around the pros and cons (as you see them) for a new setting for a future Fallout game, but remember to keep any criticism or "cons" about a location within the rules for civil discussion.

To elaborate on two points made above, "setting" can refer to a time and situation as much as a place. This thread should also be used for any such discussion for any potential Fallout titles, not just Fallout 4.

I swear, either some of the mods are on vacation, or y'all are getting slow on the draw, what with threads staying past 11 pages for days on end 'n such. No offense.

I'd like NY or perhaps the entire whole of New England to kick around in, especially if Talon Company is there.

I Want To See New York As A Location For One Reason, FEV Monkeys Living In The Statue Of Liberty. Lead By A Dr.Amidaus And Trying To Build A Plane Of Some Sorts, Hell Even Repairing A Vertabird. Also Needs To Be Able To Say "DAM YOU!! DAM YOU ALL TO HELL!!!" At some Piont In The Mission. Ghost Buster Refrences Would Rule To.

Far as I can tell most of the mods are busy on the Skyrim forums.

But on topic, I'd like to visit somewhere in the south-east, perhaps Raleigh or Georgia. Detroit would be pretty good too, anywhere but New York....

If anything, I would like to experience the life of an average Pre-War American a little while before, and a lot after the Great War.

I want to see a sequel to Fallout 3 so I would have it like this. Expand the companion max to 5 or 6 and grab Amata as your future wife and leave the D.C. since it's taken care of and god to Kansas City and stop the corrupt leader from taking over the USA and then the world.

The southern States, Texas, something, something and something.
I dont know the states that well :teehee: :whistling:

You could have NCR, Caeser's Legion and the MW BoS !!! The Horror !!!
...Oh and new native tribe/factions who want to defend their lands from the 3 power factions
You can choose to side with a faction wiping out the rest and gaining control of land with that faction, or defend the natives homeland and set the power factions againist each other !!!
I'm genius in small portions :fakenopic:

I agree, specifically I'd like it set along the Mississippi, with Memphis and New Orleans as the two major locations. Huge map, maybe needing to be loaded in two parts (OK, I know that's not going to happen) and an environment of humid jungles choking flooded conurbations, a house on a hill is a prized asset. New threats from mutated crocodiles and the like, vaults are foetid places dripping with condensation and the above ground survivors are tribal, emerging from inbred families.

(Basically a repost of my last post on thread 6 but it got swallowed up when the thread closed).

I have posted this a few times.

I suggest fo4 take place in the windy city, and it should tell us what happened to the mid west bos of FOT. 10 years is long enough to wait for a conclusion, or continuation of FOT.

I also suggest that Bethesda reconsiders setting a game in other countries once in a while. Study the mid set of that nation in the 40s and 50s, them retro fit it into the fo world. Im interested in the entire world after a nuclear war, not just the U.S.

Is the Berlin wall up in fo?

What happened to China?

How is it in England?

Canada was part of the U.S. in fo world, so I see no reason at all a game could not be set there. Fo3 even pretty much told us there were vaults in Canada.

One of these games, give the world a chance.

At the very least some news from other places would be nice, maybe via trader/explorers or radio.

New Orleans!!!!!!

this is it, for real... all kinds of cool cultural elements to play with... mardi gras, the "indians", the music and the parades, second line bands... you could do a bit of the bayou and cajun voodoo culture... maybe make slavery a big part of the game (reaching back to new orleans' past) and do a contrast of old-school bourgeouise upper-class and the crazy eclectic, celebratory culture of the slaves and commoners... everything you could ask for in a Fallout game, and it lends itself to a really different look and feel than we've seen in the series so far.

They already did tell us. they fell on hard times and are a small group, we don't need a day to day account of their lives

Taking Fallout outside of America would be a bad idea, America is the whole entire setting and point of the Fallout series.

But WE NEED TEXAS. Fo:BoS svcked hard and we need sometime in the Texas area.

That's as far as Lyon's BoS know, (I believe it was Styles that thought this up) they may have thought Lyon's BoS to be scouts for a larger BoS force so they pretended they were weak and not worth their time.

Plus "hard times" is really a very general statement. Could it be food shortages? A plague? A losing war with another faction? A revolution? We don't know and it's a great set up for a Fallout game.

That theory of Barankey in hiding had been proven impossible becuase it contradicts lore.

We don't need to go back to a place we have already been. Its poor writing and they have everything from Texas to Florida and from Florida up to Maine, excluding the Capital wasteland, and Washington to the Dakotas to do

1) How does it contradict lore?

2) Why not? It's been one hundred years, they are an interesting faction in an interesting setting. Plus F2 was (partial) in the same place as F1.

3) How is it poor writing?

4) Yes but none of those places have any background at all. I want the Mid West because we know what it was like a long time ago, I want to know what it's like now.

1. Many ways
-Legate Lanius talks about the conquest of Denver, a city full of dogs and tribals that's slightly north of Cheyenne Mountain, If Barnakey had ever gone on the rampage his ending says he did, even if he went into hiding later, no one would be left alive in Denver and Caesar and Lanius would have had no one to conquer.
-The Barnakey ending mentions him pushing all mutants and radiated humans back into the areas of the original BoS, If this had happened you would think someone would mention something like "ohh yeah my grand-parents use to live in the mid-west but we got pushed out by a robot army. It may have been like 80 years but if Obsidian and Bethesda wanted it to be canon they would have put some reference to is somewhere.
-The Barnakey ending makes it clear he had a decisive victory over his enemy, there was no mention of him and his robot army even getting half blown up by rebels.

2. becuase its been done before the reused areas of Fo2 were some its weakest parts imo, I don't want to go to the exact same places I've been before.

3. Its poor writing becuase it requires little thought on Bethesda and Obsidian's part to make up a story.

4. That's what makes them PERFECT locations. They have zero background that we know of they could throw a crazy curve ball. I wish they use Fallout Tactics 2 planned story about a mutant Geck that's creating a massive forest of mutant plants and throw in the mutant crocodiles.
