Reforging TrueFlame

Post » Thu Jun 30, 2011 1:14 pm

This is something that has bugged me in the past and I've never quite been able to come up with an answer that makes sense to me other than "she's just that crazy."

If Almalexia's goal is kill the Nerevarine, Sotha Sil and Vivec, why would she help the Nerevarine to reforge Trueflame?

It's been some time since I played through Tribunal ( I plan on doing so again soon) but I have read through the UESP wiki on that part of the quest and cannot find or recall any reason for her doing it. She says that she believes you are Nerevar reincarnated, but why on earth would she help you create such a powerful weapon if her goal is to kill you? I seem to recall her saying that you will need it to defeat Sotha Sil, but she's already killed him....so why does she arm her next target with a weapon capable of defeating her?

If it is to trick the Nerevarine, and lure him into a false sense of security or something like that....why? I just can't put together a logical explanation for this. She could easily send the Nerevarine to the Clockwork City naked for all she likely cares, so long as he dies. Attempting to maintain her divinity has driven her mad, clearly, but arming the person you are looking to kill just doesn't make any sense.

Anyone have thoughts on the matter? Or perhaps I'm just overlooking something I've forgotten in my time away from the game.

Well, Nerevar was her husband. Hopesfire and Trueflame were wedding presents from Dumac. She wants you to "reclaim your station," and she believes that should involve reforging Nerevar's half of the wedding present. Personally, I think she was trying to make the Nerevarine trust and care for her, before finally doing away with him.

She needed you to be Lord Nerevar Incarnate, she needed you to be seen with his regalia, only then she'd be able to make a martyr out of you.

The idea that you could defeat her probably never occurred to Almelexia. She is a living god and she is clinging to the memories of here glory days. She personally kicked Mehrunes Dagon back into Oblivion. You are a mortal. How could you hope to defeat her? Such grand and intoxicating innocence. :)

So she's just that crazy...

The fact that this mortal (as much as person who is now ageless and immune to disease can be considered mortal at least) was the one that defeated "the devil," severed her connection to her divinity and already saved the world were clearly not enough to convince her.

If it's because she's just that crazy, I suppose I have no choice but to accept that as an answer. I want so badly for there to be some logical reason for it, but when dealing with gods, I think logic is one of the first things to go out the window.

Do you want her to be logical or the story?

Because yes, she was crazy, but I think it fits her character.

I'm just a logical person and villains who lose by means of insanity always bug me. I was really hoping someone had a nice answer for

"The Nerevarine needs to have this sword because _____________________"

Almalexia is just that crazy though.
