Hey hey everyone! First post... at least since the Elder Scrolls forums got a snazzy makeover!

My question is a simple one. I remember way back when Skyrim was first announced one of the devs in an interview said they're gonna try to make races more visually diverse from one another this time around.

So will big viking'ish beards be the typical fashion for Nord males? Now I'm not saying will EVERY male Nord have a beard nor do I want every male Nord to have a beard (ok, that's a lie, I would like that but I know it would never happen). Rather I'm just wondering if beards will be more popular among Nords than other human races, and maybe even be the norm for male Nords.

I mean it would fit the whole rugged Viking/Nordic theme and some cool race specific braided beards would be a good way to make Nords visually distinct from the other human races.

The fact most Draugr appear to sport beards gives me hope yet!

Most likely. It's cold as [censored] in Skyrim.

Look at Morrowind and Dgaggerfall Nords.
The vast majority of Nordic males have beards. It's already established (cyrodillic nords are wimps for shaving thier beards).

I hope Nords sport some seriously Norse-looking beards. It'd suit them.

Maybe they're just lazy. Shaving is very monotonous.

I think asking if beards will be the norm for Nords implies male Nords, because females with beards would be kind of weird.

As to the answer, while we already know that proper beards are in Skyrim, I can't say how large a portion of its population will have them, but I'd expect to see quite a few Nords to have beards, it just fits with the whole Viking barbarian stereotype.

I wonder if Kajiit with have crazy mane type beards.

50+ beards in the game. So there should be many types to choose from.

30 Human/Elven beards
10 Khajiit beards
10 Argonian beards

Argonian beards sounds strange, probably more like some sort of decoration, Khajiit can have beard but yes they need special one as the head is different.
I guess 6-8 for each of the beast races

Fallout 3 had about 50 beards, so it's not all that impressive of a number. Now if they're fifty distinct beards, that's another story.

I just hope that when Skyrim comes out we actually get some people working on modding in beards, instead of the usual anime hair crap that plagues the mod sites.
