Editor quick question

Post » Thu Jun 30, 2011 6:34 pm

Me and some friends want to import the island from C1 to C2 with all the missions on it. Just the beginning of the game. Is that possible is the new editor.

This is just a quick quesion so we dont have to do digging ourselfs :)

We just want to see what C1 will look like in DX11.

Unless you have the .cry files, I don't think you can import it and edit.
But maybe CryTEK can release some sort of tool to covert the level files.
It won't be easy anyway, since a lot of entities might already changed during engine update.

Wouldn't that be too big to import? Doesn't CE3 support only smaller levels?

It should be. Looking in the map folder of Crysis 1, I see .cry files so give it a shot lol

Nah...CE3 levels are huge. If you check even the example level provided with the SDK.
So basically anything that if you only see check point in single player, that's only a entity to trigger save event.
All the way until you see a loading screen, everything within it count as one level.
The standard default of the editor would create a 2kmx2km terrain for you, maximum could go all the way to a 8k terrain texture for height map, and 32 meter for each pixel. That's freaking 256km x 256km size map, even if you have the time to edit/populate it, I don't think you'll have the memory to fit it in. ( not unless you mod the engine into a zoning and streaming ones. Like Just Cause 2.)

Hey guys,

Please use Crymod.com for Editor discussion, there are also a lot of people there that would be able to help you with any issues you're having. Just to quote myself from another thread;

www.crymod.com is the place to be for all things modding related. You can find help and tips on using the editor, written documentation showing you how to create maps and other assets, and it's a great place to share all of your work with other editor users.

Just a heads up. I was not able to import any levels from C1, they would not show up. Oh well.
