If you are using a AMD 6000 series card with tessellation and are getting really poor framerates there is a bug with the CCC that causes the game to force too much tessellation by default, so you should use RadeonPro to force tessellation to x8 or x4 etc and the performance should be much better. Not what it should be but better.

We'll have to wait untill they fix this in next month's CCC package or maybe a hotfix before then.

Oh is it on 5? oops.

Yeah it only goes up to 3.

Not that I really find setting it to 3 does anything but it's supposed to use Laplace Edge AA.

As long as that edge blurring that just blurs everything is gone I'm happy.

Yeah but I don't know of any other form of aa in the game that doesn't just blur the whole image.

WOOOOAAAH hold on there.....

Seriously? Is this true? I am on a laptop that has an ATI Radeon HD 5730 and i get great performance in "ultra" untill i turn tesselation on. Is this why? I heard about this bug before but i heard it only had to do with 6000 series cards.......so if i have a 5730....am i still getting this problem? I have no problems with it in metro 2033 but crysis 2 tesselation kills my performance.

Oh yeah I think you're right. I think that bug is on the 6000 series only.

Well you could try to turn down the tesselation to x4 or x2 anyway to see if it helps.

The mobility 5730 isn't that powerful though.

For a laptop card i'd say it is pretty awesome but compared to a desktop, definetally not lol. My laptop accompanies it with a core i5 cpu so i can get decent visuals on it and play some games maxed out settings wise but i can only afford low rezolutions in crysis games, hence why i can't turn msaa off or it looks like s*** lol. Untill i build a desktop i have to pull that deal with this laptop, low rez for ultra visuals with performance. I don't mind that tho i'd rather have a low rez with ultra eye candy. I've been able to squeeze some pretty good power out of it that way! like metro 2033 for example..runs great on high settings with dx11. ~1024x600 and i'm satisfied with that.

The tesselation in this game definetally kills my frames for now. I saw this bug before being talked about but i was nervous downloading 3rd party software to configure my gpu. Is it a reliable program? If it can fix it that would be sweet, literally disabling tesselation makes my frames jump by like 10.

You can just use catalyst to adjust the tess level.

Yeah but I just use RadeonPro to be safe.

RadeonPro is more agressive at forcing the options.

3d application settings. Tesselation should be there after anti aliasing and anisotrophics filtering. Uncheck the "AMD optimised" and "Use application settings and then set the level accordingly /prefferably "off" :)

Yes, I didn't really expect it to work to be honest. But I checked it out and it definitely does.

btw CipherADFX, nice autoexec. Makes the game look really sharp. This is how I wanted the game to be a while back, but in some ways I've fallen in love with the smudge-fest that is stock settings lol

Would this work for Nvidia cards as well? Why do those screens look so much better than what I get with all on ultra with high res textures?

Those pics look very crisp!

That doesn't really have anything to do with the tesselation fix.

Just use my autoexe.

Nice.

Hey is it possible to disable the full screen post-MSAA that Crysis 2 uses (which causes that smudged blurriness) and then force MSAA via RadeonPro to fix the jaggies?

EDIT: Truth be told, it seems like the default AA that Crysis 2 uses is exactly like MLAA (Morphological Filtering Anti Aliasing) which is a full-screen effect that pretty much blurs everything, even text.
