Bretons have and always will be my favorite race. And imo make the best battlemages out of all the races. I would like a visual change that sets them apart though.

I'm fine with the accents, but I agree that they need to look more fair than the imperials.

Imperials should be tanned and a bit hardier looking like the Romans they seem to be based on. Bretons should be softer and more charismatic, like the English and French. Give them better hair and better skin. Out of the human races, they should be the most attractive.

I agree, I always sort of viewed them as just the mage version of an Imperial. The only time I ever used one was when I was trying to play as Radagast the Brown from LOTR, essentially no offensive spells, or offensive anything.

So, the best race and imperials are dificult to distinguis and you suggest eliminating the best race. Why not imperials. They weren't even playable race until Morrowind. They are the ones looking like bretons and not adding to the game.

I think that the Breton's ancestry as the offspring between Man and Mer need to be empathized more, more elven looking features pretty much. As for the accent, I think they should have somewhat of an accent but the one they had in Oblivion was down right dreadful.

Am I the only one who didn't mind the Breton's voice in Oblivion? It wasn't fantastic but it was better that Screech from Saved by the Bell in Morrowind.

And I agree, they should be the most attractive race. They should be fair like the Nords, yet have the physical build like the Altmer.

I noticed people like comparing the races look to oblivion, when we should wait get a clear look of all races in Skyrim, hell they all got major revamps I'm not going to say a certain race should be erased due to their oblivion look,abilities,voice actors, and etc. It makes no sense to me, maybe it's the new thing to judge people off of their 05/06 look. Not that they are real people but you know what I mean.

Maybe, maybe not. That was a long time ago, lots of the elven blood seems to have been bred out by now.

Bretons dont have much elven blood in them anymore, so I doubt they'll be any prominent elf features.

Dunno man, both were originally the same group of tribal peoples pre roman invasion, ie Celt. Both were then heavily romanised, Both are/were full of Saxons. I don't really know how to draw the line between the 2 because they are so intertwined throughout the ages. And there is part of France where that was settled by English, and speak a dialect of an English celt language. Of course there was no England or France when they emigrated.

True, the Voice of the Emperor power certainly attests to that, but don't you think their charisma has taken a hit since the Empire dissolved? People used to respect them because they were powerful, but they lack that edge now. Perhaps they're just naturally better speakers than the Bretons though.




Both the English and French are stereotypically viewed as charismatic, romantic, refined and fairly haughty. These qualities fit the Bretons well. Admittedly, these could also apply to Imperials, which is part of why this problem exists in the first place. The Imperials and the Bretons are both very civilized humans, which makes it difficult to differentiate the two.

By better hair and skin, I mean more stereotypically "regal." Imperials are hard workers, outdoorsmen, and strong fighters, they should be darker and more scarred on average. They should also be more inclined to wear armor and wield strong weapons.

Bretons are more sheltered and delicate. They spend more time studying than working and, as most are mages, they likely don't spend much time outside; thus they should be pale. Being a vain people, they should also spend more time looking after their hair, in contrast to the more rough and unkempt Imperials, and in stark contrast to the brutal Nords. And they'd favor comfortable, silk robes to armor.

I never much preferred bretons but then again I never played mages. What race is the most effective pure mage?
