Anyone else think this game will be the easiest so far?

Still, what does puzzles or the lack of them have to do with difficulty and character creation?

I don't know about difficulty per se, but I'm glad to see puzzles in all the same:

After the riddles in Arena's dungeons and even the switch hunts in Daggerfall, I'd been hoping that Bethesda would eventually return to dungeon puzzles once they had the manpower to take a more sophisticated approach. Copying patterns off of a quest item doesn't sound like anything particularly profound, but I'm sure there'll be even more complex puzzles and it'd be cool if there were dungeons where you had to, say, remove the correct book from a shelf and then copy its pattern. Something in order to make the pace of dungeons slightly less linear and give you a reason to explore a bit more in between fights. :read:

the only option for travel is to click on a map that magically takes you where you want to go (with all the major cities already on the map at the start of the game!).

You mean, just like Daggerfall and Arena right?

Except that those games had very different mechanics and presentation in general, by comparison especially due to how dated they are today. In Oblivion the amount of time your "journey" took didn't really make any difference. Yes, time passed, but who could ever care? There wasn't anything about the menu that even made any attempt to make it feel like it was a journey, just click and pop, you are there with only "in-game time" ,whatever use that is, spent. Way to pull out only one thing from the post also... there was progression, even in buying a horse, ship, etc. before, and of course progression there meant money and learning the system. There was progression in your character over the course of the game and trying to beat those games at level 1 would be a bit of a stretch I think you'd agree... the point is, Oblivion was stupid easy in terms of learning curve, combat, "exploration" whatever that means in that game, and acquiring godly items. My point is that I would actually be impressed, though also saddened, if they could even make a TES game any easier than Oblivion was... it would be quite a feat.

if you measure difficulty as the amount of times you smack an enemy, then this is a moot point. Difficulty slider is your friend.

As for quest complexity and difficult dungeon puzzles. I can only see it getting better than previos installments.

Here's hoping!

I'm just going to set the difficulty slider all the way to the right on my first play through.
