Free Roam Co-op

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:16 pm

Picture if you will having a real wing-man in the wastes via xbox-live or psn?

The whole time i was playing Oblivion I was thinking it, and the whole time I was playing Fallout 3 I was thinking it. Bethesda has the very real opportunity to create the very best co-op experience of all time, so what's holding them back? Thoughts?

the fact that a) they've never made a multiplayer game like this before and B) they can barely optimize for single-player as it is?

also c) there's been a thousand threads on this topic and this one will most likely be locked (just a heads up)

Three things are holding them back.

1)Bethesda's experience is with single player games. I'd rather they concentrate on that rather than any form of multiplayer.

2)Bethesda aren't making New Vegas, Obsidian are.

3)Obsidian is using the exact same engine as Fallout 3. It was not intended to support multiplayer or co-op. Such features have to be incorporated from the earliest stages of engine coding. Any attempts to add them them to the existing engine may well push the release date back months.

A simple search of this forum would have revealed all the other locked co-op and multiplayer topics.

If you've got a dream don't stop because a topic might get shot down, I think it's A fine idea
