Why do we HAVE to wear Backpacks?

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:28 pm

I noticed this the other day, after extensively using the 3rd Perspective perk (I've used it since the beginning of release, it's just now I'm noticing it).

If you wear ANY kind of jacket, at all, it "welds" into the jacket? It's not actually on your shoulders OUTSIDE of the Jacket like it's supposed to be, but rather "sunk" into the jacket itself?

Why is this? I really don't understand. I TRIED not finding anything graphically wrong with this game (like I mostly do with things like Halo, Fallout, etc.). But I did...

Now pretty much I don't even wear a jacket anymore because of this, it just looks stupid IMHO. And I think it only affects Resistance if im correct? Security's backpacks look fine on w/e you wear (even The Bomb).

Also, I believe they designed them to fit "perfect" to a Medium body type, cause this backpack just looks WAY too big on a Light and you can tell. The strap is like 3 inches above your shoulder.

AND, Backpacks have no significant meaning whatsoever. I could understand if EACH CLASS had it's own specific looking backpack, but that's NOT the case. ALL OF THEM look the same? So, why are we even wearing these things in the first place?

IMHO, Kind've defeats the whole purpose of being a unique and deadly snowflake, seeing as i'm wearing the same backpack as you, in EVERY game?

I know this isn't a HUGE issue, but it's bugging me now and honestly making me think twice on how I create characters as far as look go now.

Discuss...

Must admit I am also not a fan of the backpacks, If they were to be added they should be added as theyr own customization option.

Afterall theres no way in hell you could fit a turret in one of those backpacks, which pretty much means they don't NEED to be there for logics sake. :P

LVFR Brink is not about realism, and who are you to say people in the brink universe dosnt theyr guns and grenades up theyr butts?

Okay how about this example: Halo 2.

Halo 2 was THE most played XBL title before Call of Duky infested the online space with horrible feces. It had NO customization, and NO signs to show which weapon you were currently holding/had?

But so many [censored] including myself from Bungie.net still say H2 was the best as far as MP and Halo 3/Reach will never come close to the fun created by Halo 2.

We didn't need backpacks or a gun case holstered to our back. We just pulled an Energy Sword right up out our pockets! (No pun intended)...

Again, if people didn't care we were pulling weapons out of our assets, why was H2 such a popular XBL title then?

I just sincerely don't know why we have to have backpacks, we can't even see our weapons in Brink? So what's the point of having this bulky thing on my back? So people can spot me easier? I don't get it...

If it's not class-specific, OR, customizable... why MUST we wear them?

I dont mind the backpack visuals (except that the Resistance pack looks WAY cooler than the Security's) I think it's supposed to be a visual representation of your supplies isn't it?

Well fact is if backpacks are to be ingame they really need to be customizeable, there are several outfits that just look plain silly with the current backpack shapes and colors.. Security backpacks in specfic are horrible as you clearly notice the mismatch if you wear anything that isnt blue.

If not customizeable I would honestly say we are better of without them in game.

I guess they're for ammo/nades or .. w/e (SURRREEE... :D). And yeah I did notice that about security..

It's cool my main characters wear shirts. Besides my Security "The Look", which he's Red and Gray the default look.. now you got me thinking more grrr..

And I have Psycho pack. Which reminds me I actually saw another player while playing that had it. I know like 200-300 maybe got it? (By what the official poll said). svcked though cause I wasn't wearing mine at the time, just my Soda-Can supressor on my Bulpdaun :D

While we are at it.. anyone know when that TU is going LIVE? :brokencomputer:

I dont mind backbacks, backbacks are important utility for war.

What they do need is add customisation for backback. nothing else. keep backpack. as i dont enjoy hiding weapons up my [censored].

It drives me insane. Not so much of how it might sink in, but because the blue Security backpack takes a piss on my characters color scheme.

Hope you don't play engineer then kameh, cause we both know those turrets wouldnt fit in the backpack, and even if they did It would without a doubt break the back of the carrier :P
