RP Idea!

Post » Mon Jul 04, 2011 1:56 pm

Okay since recently I've noticed that there's an extreme scarcity of joinable RPs at the moment (I don't like joining ones that have already started) So I thought I would start a new RP myself.

I've had this RP idea for awhile but have really gotten around to actually doing it, but since it's summer vacation it would be nice to give it a go. I was thinking of making a vampire/werewolf RP involving werewolves and vampires who terrorize a town of villagers at night. The players in the RP would be given the choice of being either a vampire, werewolf, or helpless villager.

Though I haven't developed much of the RP yet I was hoping we could use this thread to build interest and to come up with some more ideas as far the setting and story goes. I would also appreciate it if someone would pm wanting to host this RP for me.

Thanks for replying guys. I'm going to post some more info about how each of the forms will work and what powers/disabilities each person will have.

How big is the village? Important enough to have it's own guard/militia and maybe even walls?
Is there going to be more than terrorizing villagers? Because I have a feeling that going around as epic werewolves or vampires slaying villagers isn't going to be very difficult.
Perhaps they could be rivals of some sort?
And why are such a large number of these guys drawn to this village? Maybe they are competing after a totem of some sort?
An interesting idea, but it needs more fleshing.

I do plan to have a moderate size village (It probably won't have any city walls). It will ceartinly be alot bigger than any of the Oblivion cities (Which I found really small for a city). I also planned to have it placed in a forest to give somewhat of an isolated feeling. The village will feel alot like Hackdirt, but much much bigger.

As for the Vampires and Werewolves I haven't decided yet. Though one motive I have for Vampire is that they've tooken refuge inside an old mansion nearby and plan to use the villagers for their feeding needs, and the Werewolves are villagers who have recently been infected and are unable to control the beast within them. Like I said it's mostly a work in progress and I plan to go deeper than this, that's why I posted this thread so I can spawn some ideas.

I'd join as the not-so-helpless villagers... but that would probably break the tone of the game (What do you mean the captain of the guard is a retired adventurer who eats werewolf flanks for dinner?!).

However, if you need a judge/mediator and/or "AI Director" (to keep the players from becoming complacent), I could probably fill that role.

I agree with you, there's not been many fresh roleplays to join and this one sounds interesting. However, my only concern would be as Scow2 said, do the villagers have to be helpless? I'm not a very keen vampire/lycan roleplayer, but I'd happily join as a villager who could perhaps decide to try and combat these threats. I appreciate that this is only an ideas thread, but I feel this could be a very fun roleplay if you get it right.

What do you mean by that?

I took the "Looking for Host" subtitle to mean the OP was more interested in playing such an RP than actually running it, and I pretty much volunteering to host/run (or co-host) the RP if we can get it created in this thread.

And on the concern of villagers... In order to not make the players of such people feel doomed, I'm thinking it would be better for those interested in such characters to actually control several villagers, with a character sheet only needed for the the most significant/interesting person they want to play, who would have a roughly equal chance against the Werewolves/vampires in conflict. That way, it's not a big loss for a villager-player to lose characters.

In fact, it may be better to use a "Quick" villager sheet that contains the following information (Some can be condensed into a sentence or paragraph format for inline mention):
Name, Race, and six:
Profession/Social Position:
Relationships: # of siblings, and the names and nature of relationship to other villagers with character sheets are all that's required.
Trivia: Any quirks, notes, or fun background facts go here.

A full character sheet would be reserved for those in need of plot armor.

I thought you meant that you would be the thread's own personal moderator. Well, you could do that too.

When you say Lycanthropes vs Vampires can we not have stupid lycanthropes like weredeer or werecrabs we need creatures like werewolves, werebears and even wereboars (they were in Daggerfall).
As for vampires, are we playing strictly as Cyrodiilic vampires or the Volkihar of Skyrim or a mix of all the vampire clans.
The book http://www.imperial-library.info/content/oblivion-immortal-blood has extensive information about vampires.

Lore wise, a more savage vampire clan would make sense. I doubt the CYrodilic clan would tolerate one of their own going around terrorizing villages. Remember Hindaril? He was locked up.

Also, are the vampires and werewolves working together? We can't use many different types of vampires since they are always at each other's throats.

Edit: As for story, perhaps it can be in Cyrodiil? Maybe during the middle of the Third Era so it won't conflict with established lore. Perhaps a rival vampire clan entered Cyrodiil and began feeding on the villagers. The cyrodilic vampires, needing to abide by their laws and tenets, decide to fight these vampires by using societie's finest warriors to purge them.

As for werewolves, I have no idea. Lycanthropes are solitary creatures that live alone or with a single other. I only saw some in packs in Daggerfall.

The only vampire clan in Cyrodiil is, well, the one seen in Oblivion, because it annihilated all others. A better location if we want a different clan would be High Rock.

Of course, Cyrodiil's vampires would be good for paranoia/suspicion-based games, if the forum's format didn't spoil who was what.

There is one clan in Cyrodiil, yes. But that doesn't stop the possibility of other clans invading. And lore shows that the Cyrodilic clan's creation precedes their arrival to Cyrodiil. But I agree, I have two Cyrodilic vampire characters best reserved for manipulation plots and such.

This RP seems perfect for your name.

Indeed. I mostly RP with vampire and werewolf characters. Or supernaturally dark individuals.

We already had something slightly similar to this a while back. Just not as brutal (and a different plot).
