Reasons for or against riding Dragons

This. It's too World of Warcraft for a series like TES.

Plus, it devalues dragons as a whole if they can be reduced to mounts for the Dovahkiin to ride around.

My thoughts.

I voted no, not because i wouldn't like to ride a dragon, but because in Skyrim i'd reach one end of the map to the other in 20 seconds and feel like a goldfish bumping my nose on the side of the fish-tank, if the world was absolutely huge then yes, i'd find dragon riding fun.

Well, i dont want the most fearsome creatures in the game to be easily subdued to a pet. these are wild beasts who are more or less raged about being nearly wiped out before. if we could ride them, they would have to be domesticated in some way, which they are not.

Plus, even if we could subdue them, dragons are sentient beings. they have their own language and anything. they wouldn't just let you, dragonborn or not, be their master as long as they are as smart, if not, smarter than you.

I'm against it, mainly because going from one side of the map to the other on a dragon mount would probably take like... 1-2 minutes? If not less?

We're going to mod it in anyway~ Might as well put it in the game.

I do not think it would be some terrible, game destroying thing to have, but it does need to be done right. IIf dragon riding were to be added, it needs some severe limitations imposed on it to avoid some of the problems mentioned here.

1. It needs to be uncontrollable by the player.
2. It needs to be a one time per playthrough affair.
3. It needs to require very specific dialogue choices.
4. It needs to be completely missable, in that if you dont do something right before a certain point it is locked out on that playthrough.
5. It needs to be there for no reason other than servicing the plot. Flying to the final area of the main quest because that is the only way to get there, that sort of thing.
6. It needs to make sense. Not just any random dragon should fly you, the player needs significant amount of interaction with the dragon, to the point where it actually trusts or considers you an equal, through great effort on the player's part to reach that point.
7. There should be some repercussions for doing so. People who saw you riding it pass along rumors...saying you have betrayed them or sided with dragons, slandering your name and reputation.

My reasons for saying yes is: If you can kill a dragon why should you not be able to beat a dragon into submission and make it obey your will? Plus it’s a lot faster than a horse I don’t think I would fast travel if could ride a dragon from place to place. Try to be nice to each other :foodndrink:

Also Does anyone know how Alduin is controlling the other dragons (which I knew were smart but didn’t relies were as smart if not smarter than humans and the like  ) I know it’s more than likely a main plot point but was hoping there was something in lore about it.

Beat it into submission? This is exactly why we can't ride dragons.....M'aiq says some people are very sick indeed

I would love to ride dragons however like Sheogorath88 said the map is probably too samll for such a feature to work effectively.

It would however be the ultimate fast travel.

Also Todd has already revealed that not all dragons are out to kill you so they are not all your enemies....... probably not your friends either, but still
