Changing blackwood company armor a bit

Post » Wed Jul 06, 2011 1:57 pm

Possibly in the wrong section, I guess constuction set might be the right place, but as I'm new to the construction set (not even downloaded atm) I'll put this here, chances are someone has already changed it to red for some reason. So my question is, is there a mod alreayd for it? (searched and found nothing), if not, is the construction set able to change it if I'd download it?

Moderators feel free to put this into the construction set section if you feel it is in the wrong place.

Using GIMP it wouldn't be too hard to change the color yourself. I can do it but I don't know exactly what kind of red you want.

You could? Sweet :) I'm not sure about the red myself, but not bright red, so something darker. i'd be awesome if you could do it and send a link to download or update it or something.

http://www.4shared.com/file/a2jeHCs-/blackwoodcuirass.html. If you don't like the red I can change it. I did a similar thing in my game changing the iron armor's yellow to blue

I seriously recommend downloading GIMP and figuring out the basics of working with it; it's super easy to do stuff like change colors of textures. If some minor thing is bothersome you never have to worry about a replacement being available somewhere!

Got archive invalidation enabled?

Sorry an invalid what? Where? :unsure2:

It doesn't seem to contain a single "file path" when I downloaded it through oblivion mod manager-create archieve. But when i open it, it contains a file. :/ ok so it has a file, but it does nothing. :o The armor looks exactly like it did earlier.

Er, just extract the archive to your Oblivion folder, since I included it within the Data folder structure in the archive it should end up where it belongs, and then you need to use archive invalidation, which basically tells Oblivion to use the texture now residing in Data\textures\armor\blackwood\m rather than the one in the textures bsa. In OBMM it's under Utilities, and then choose replacement or redirection. If it's not showing up either it wasn't extracted to the right location or you haven't done archive invalidation.

Ok got it working, thanks a lot it looks great! Can you do the same for the greaves, they have a rather huge blue area which would be great to be changed to the same type of red as that in the cuirass :)

Sure, http://www.4shared.com/file/X4nMUNQX/blackwood.html. Well it's actually both files, just added the greaves to the archive and renamed it. Let me know if the color doesn't match or something, it's darker than the shade on the cuirass but I'm pretty sure it the blues didn't match exactly anyway

Thanks a lot! One thing though, I realized when equiping it that it might look better if the cuirass red was a bit darker red and the other a bit lighter red, if you have time and want to do the little tweaks I'd appreciate it actually, scratch that, make both of them a lot darker red if it's possible :)

http://www.4shared.com/file/_TvIBR5S/blackwood.html. I only made them slightly darker so if it's not dark enough let me know.

Ok, now I see what must be done for the final version:

Just a bit darker red and then the greaves have the sort of leather things holding the metal together, which almost looks pink, if you are able to change it do very dark brown, almost black in addition to the darker red for the red part, then it should be perfect! :)
